Serie A: Kessie is holding out for Juventus and nothing else

One name on his list

Franck Kessie has stopped listening to anyone else. Gianluca Di Marzio reports the Ivory Coast midfielder has made Juventus his priority and is turning down conversations elsewhere. Free after leaving Al-Ahli, the 29-year-old could sign anywhere tomorrow. He would rather wait for Turin.

You can see why the door is open. Juventus still lack a proper ball-winner in Luciano Spalletti’s midfield, and Frederic Massara’s arrival in the sporting department changed the temperature. The two men worked together at AC Milan. Late in a window, with a free agent involved, that history tends to count for more than any scouting dossier.

Seven Serie A seasons and a Scudetto already banked

This would not be a leap into the unknown. Cesena, Atalanta, AC Milan, seven seasons in the league, and the 2022 title he won holding Stefano Pioli’s midfield together next to Ismael Bennacer.

The road since has been stranger. Barcelona never fit. Saudi Arabia did, and three years at Al-Ahli brought two Asian Champions League titles plus a Saudi Super Cup. This summer he wore the armband for Ivory Coast at the 2026 World Cup.

Juventus have to clear the room first

Space is the perennial Turin problem. Arthur’s exit, close to done, frees one midfield slot. At least one more body has to move before Kessie can walk in, once wages and registration limits are counted.

And the clock is unhelpful. A midfielder with that CV, available for nothing, does not stay on the shelf for weeks, whatever he says about waiting. Juventus have days, not weeks, to turn this into a signature.
