A lead from the Gulf
Jadon Sancho has been without a club since June. According to the Mirror, Arabian Falcons are lining up a move to take him to Dubai. The Emirati side want to convince the 26-year-old England winger to join their project.
The backroom setup is a surprise. Jonjo Shelvey, a former England international, is in charge of the team. Danny Simpson, who won the Premier League with Leicester in 2016, works there as a player-coach. Ravel Morrison has just been named captain.
The Falcons are not stopping there. The English tabloid says the club plans to target several high-profile free agents as it looks to speed up its project.

Five years of a broken career arc
Manchester United paid 85 million euros to prise him away from Borussia Dortmund in 2021. The gamble never paid off. Sancho was back on loan at Dortmund by January 2024, and there was a Champions League final at the end of it.
Chelsea picked up the baton the following season. There was a Europa Conference League title, then a permanent deal that fell through. Aston Villa came next on loan: one goal, three assists in 39 appearances, and a Europa League medal to show for it. Villa didn’t keep him.
His Manchester United contract ran out in June. Since then, Fiorentina, AS Roma and Palmeiras have all been linked with him. None of the moves went anywhere.
A career call, not a talent issue
At 26, Sancho is nowhere near done. He remains one of the most recognisable free agents in the European market. The raw ability has never been the issue. Consistency and the setting around him have.
Dubai would offer a low-noise backdrop and a healthy contract. It would also be a clear change of direction, far from the leagues where he first burst through.
Nothing is signed. No offer has even been made yet. But the fact a club in the Emirates is making its interest so public says plenty about where things stand three months after his contract ended.
