Three minutes and ten seconds
Brentford have spent three minutes and ten seconds of this Premier League season in a losing position. That is the complete total after five matchdays, and every second of it came in the 2-2 draw at Bournemouth on 12 September.
Expressed as a share of playing time it comes to 0.6 per cent. The next lowest figure in the division belongs to Leeds on 8.6 per cent, more than fourteen times higher. Keith Andrews has his side in the top four on the back of it.

City own the clock, Tottenham have never started it
Manchester City, five wins from five, are the only club to have spent more than half their minutes in front, on 52 per cent. Matchday 1 almost cost them that. Marcus Tavernier put Bournemouth ahead in the 27th minute, Marc Guehi levelled in the 84th and Josko Gvardiol won it in added time. City led for four minutes and 52 seconds that afternoon and trailed for 60 minutes and 52 seconds, the longest spell behind by any team that has gone on to win a Premier League match this season.
City topped this same ranking last season at 48.6 per cent and finished seven points behind Arsenal, who led for 44.5 per cent of their minutes and took the title. Holding the lead and holding the trophy are different exercises.
Tottenham occupy the other extreme. Roberto De Zerbi’s team have not led for a single second of league football in 2026-27, the only side in the division yet to manage it. They failed to score in their opening four matches, and when Conor Gallagher broke the run in the 86th minute against Aston Villa they were already three goals down.
Bournemouth keep hitting the same ceiling
Bournemouth have been behind for 9.3 per cent of their minutes, the third-lowest share in the league, and have still not won a game. Marco Rose’s side have held a lead for more than 50 minutes in three separate matches without collecting three points: 60 minutes 52 seconds against City, 52 minutes 29 seconds against Everton, and 82 minutes 11 seconds against Newcastle on matchday 3.
Sunderland give the mirror image. Their entire time in front this season adds up to 3.9 per cent, all of it in the closing 19 minutes and 24 seconds against Fulham after Wilson Isidor’s goal at the Stadium of Light. Everything else they have taken has come from matches that were level when the whistle went.
