WNBA: Howard, Reese end Dream’s Vegas curse in 97-82 win

Six straight losses in Las Vegas, finally over

Atlanta had not won in Las Vegas since six visits ago. That ended overnight, 97-82, with Rhyne Howard putting up 23 points on a scrappy 7-for-19 night from the floor and a flawless seven for seven at the line. Four rebounds, three assists, four steals, two blocks alongside it.

Angel Reese filled every column on the sheet: 21 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, four steals. Allisha Gray matched her scoring with 21, Jordin Canada chipped in 17.

The Dream move to 22-13, one game back of the Aces at 24-13.

Hammon lost it, and the game went with her

Second quarter. Atlanta up four. Becky Hammon picked up a technical arguing a no-call on A’ja Wilson, then walked at the officials until her own staff physically stopped her. Second technical, gone. Her first ejection since June 2024.

Howard buried both free throws. That capped an 11-2 stretch that had begun with a Reese three from the left wing, and Atlanta was suddenly up six.

With Hammon in the tunnel, the Dream went on an 8-2 run and pushed it to 12.

Wilson had 27 and 14, and no help against the press

A’ja Wilson played like an MVP: 27 points, 14 rebounds, four blocks. Jackie Young got 24, Chelsea Gray 13, NaLyssa Smith 10.

Vegas trimmed it to six inside the last two minutes without ever making it feel close. Atlanta answered with a 9-0 run and that was the night.

The number that decided it sat on the defensive end. Fifteen steals for the Dream, 17 Aces turnovers, 18 points off them.
