Detroit Tigers vs Philadelphia Phillies – MLB Prediction – July 10, 2026

Detroit are back in front of their own fans with a run of form that stands in sharp contrast to their overall record. The Tigers have strung together three straight wins, scoring 16 runs and, more importantly, allowing just four. The bats are doing their bit, the bullpen is shutting things down and the team is finally showing some consistency.

Philadelphia arrive with more overall credibility across the season, but their recent work at the plate has been patchy. This opener will be handed to Jack Flaherty and Aaron Nola, two starters whose current numbers raise more questions than answers. Even so, both can rack up strikeouts, and the recent defensive work from these teams should help keep things under control.

Detroit Tigers : a run built on more than just offence Detroit Tigers

The Tigers have found some momentum. Three wins in a row and only four runs allowed over that stretch: Detroit are not just swinging the bats better, the whole outfit looks far more settled.

That said, the offence will need patience against Nola. The right-hander has had a rough season, but he is still capable of settling in and working through a few decent innings. Detroit would be wise to make him labour and drive up the pitch count rather than going straight for the big hit.

Flaherty remains a bit of a mystery. His 2-8 record and 4.60 ERA do not inspire much confidence, but his 92 strikeouts show he still has enough in the tank to get himself out of trouble. Against Philadelphia, his main job will be to avoid free passes and those ugly long innings that have hurt him far too often.

The Phillies do not need one specific script to come out on top. Their recent 1-0 win proved that again: when the offence goes quiet, the pitching and defence can carry them.

Against Flaherty, Philadelphia should get a few looks. Detroit’s starter can be erratic and tends to wobble once runners start piling on. But the Phillies have scored only ten runs across their last three games, which is hardly the profile of a side about to explode.

Nola, meanwhile, needs to find some rhythm. His 5.87 ERA is a concern, but his experience and strikeout ability still matter. Against a confident Detroit offence, a few clean innings could be enough to stop this game from running away.

MLB Prediction : Detroit Tigers vs Philadelphia Phillies

Under 9.5 runs in the game

The ERAs posted by Flaherty and Nola naturally point towards a high-scoring night. Even so, the 9.5-run line already asks for quite a bit, and the recent form of both clubs does not scream shootout.

Detroit have allowed just four runs in their last three games. Philadelphia, for their part, are still capable of doing damage at the plate, but they also just won 1-0. Both sides have shown they can lean on pitching and the bullpen when the game stays tight.

Flaherty (Detroit) and Nola (Philadelphia) are not having their best years, but their strikeout ability can help them limit the damage. Unless walks or errors open the door to a big inning, this one looks more likely to stay under 9.5 runs.

First, a word on our picks

  • What we publish on mathodds is analysis, nothing more. It is a view, a read on the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport is still sport: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a goal out of nowhere… and the whole script changes.
  • Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when something looks “obvious”, it really is not. And yes, that means you can lose. In fact, sooner or later, you will.
  • The smart move is to stay disciplined. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Do not touch money you need to live on. And above all, do not chase losses. It rarely ends well.
  • A bet should stay a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts to take over your day, gets on your nerves or puts you under pressure, take a break. If needed, speak to a specialist support service. That is what it is there for.
  • At the end of the day, the responsibility is yours. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, even with the best analysis in the world.
  • Essential reminder: betting is illegal for minors and must comply with the laws in your country. Gambling can spiral fast, bringing money problems, family tension and addiction. Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.

No commitment from us

Our predictions are not a contract. They carry no legal weight. In plain English: you cannot use them to demand anything if a bet loses.

Information changes

A prediction is always based on what we know at the time it is written. But in the meantime, a team sheet changes, a player gets hurt, the weather turns bad… and the analysis can quickly be out of date. We cannot be held responsible for that.

Your role
