200 strikeouts, a first since 2022
Reid Detmers snapped a run and still carved out a place in the record books. The Angels left-hander allowed four runs over five innings against the Twins in Anaheim on Thursday night, ending a stretch of seven straight quality starts. He also recorded his 200th strikeout of the season.
No Angels pitcher had reached that number since Shohei Ohtani in 2022. That tells you plenty about the state of the rotation over the past four years, and what Detmers now means to it.
He walked nobody and struck out five. Six hits allowed, not one inning lost to bad command.

Minnesota led 5-2 after eight and still lost
The Twins built that edge the hard way. A Walker Jenkins single and a Luke Keaschall double in the third. A Brooks Lee double and a Victor Caratini single in the fourth. Then a Ryan Kreidler home run in the fifth that carried 384 feet.
Los Angeles chipped away. Jose Siri cut the gap with a two-run shot in the fourth. Adam Frazier came off the bench and doubled in the eighth. Then Vaughn Grissom tied it 5-5 in the ninth, driving a 400-foot homer to right-center off A.J. Minter. His 12th of the year.
Mike Trout added two hits and two walks. Siri finished with two hits and two stolen bases.
A ball off the pitcher’s leg ends it
The 11th inning turned on a fluke. Two outs, bases loaded, Christian Moore jumped on Taylor Rogers’ first pitch, a sweeper. The ball struck the pitcher’s leg and rolled down the third-base line. Zach Neto, the automatic runner, raced home. 6-5.
Tayler Saucedo worked the scoreless inning that mattered, with two strikeouts. The Angels move to 60-95, the Twins fall to 72-83. Both seasons died weeks ago. One starting pitcher still had something left to play for.
