Fresh attacking cover, straight from Brazil
Columbus Crew have their new forward. The MLS side confirmed Wednesday that Gonzalo Tapia arrives on loan from Sao Paulo of Brazil’s Serie A.
The 24-year-old Chilean is tied up through the end of the 2027 MLS season, with a buy option baked in.
Try it for $0.99.
A forward who has already seen a few places
Tapia lands with real mileage behind him: 30 goals and 10 assists across 172 appearances in South America.
“Gonzalo is a talented, hard-working player who brings quality and competition to our attack,” Crew general manager Issa Tall said. Before Sao Paulo came River Plate and Universidad Catolica back home in Chile.
An international with something to prove
He wears the national shirt too. Since his 2024 debut, Tapia has three goals in 12 caps for Chile. Columbus will want him sharp, and fast.
