Colombia vs DR Congo – World Cup 2026 Prediction – June 23, 2026

Colombia vs DR Congo : a huge game in the race for qualification Group K of the 2026 FIFA World Cup - Wikipedia

A week after stunning Portugal, DR Congo are back against Colombia with real belief they can keep this run going at World Cup 2026. The South Americans sit top of Group K after beating Uzbekistan, but the Leopards showed in their opener that they are here for more than just experience.

A win would put Colombia within touching distance of the round of 16. For Congo, a positive result would be a major statement.

Against Uzbekistan, the Cafeteros had to work for it before making the breakthrough in the final 15 minutes. Luis Diaz again underlined his importance in Nestor Lorenzo’s set-up, while Daniel Munoz and Jaminton Campaz also got on the scoresheet. Colombia are on a strong winning run and have enough technical quality to hurt any defence.

Still, it was not all smooth on matchday one, especially when it came to defending transitions. Against a Congo side that looks more dangerous than Uzbekistan, the space left behind could be punished.

The Leopards showed plenty of fight against Portugal DR Congo national football team - Wikipedia

Behind early against Portugal, DR Congo could easily have folded. Instead, Sebastien Desabre’s men responded with real character. Yoane Wissa scored the country’s first goal in a modern World Cup and the Congolese even had a few chances to turn the match around.

Since taking charge, the French coach has built a side that is awkward to play against. The Leopards rarely lose heavily, and their defensive shape often leaves room for the forwards to exploit what opponents leave behind. Against Colombia, the pace of Wissa and the experience of Bakambu could again cause problems.

Likely line-ups :

Colombia: Vargas; Munoz, Sanchez, Lucumi, Mojica; Rios, Lerma; Arias, Rodriguez, Diaz; Suarez

DR Congo: Mpasi; Wan-Bissaka, Mbemba, Tuanzebe, Kayembe; Mukau, Moutoussamy, Sadiki; Bongonda, Bakambu, Wissa

World Cup 2026 Prediction : DR Congo vs Colombia

Both teams to score

Colombia have found the net in each of their last six matches and their attacking threat remains one of their biggest strengths. But the Cafeteros do not always look completely secure at the back, which regularly gives opponents a route in. DR Congo showed against Portugal that they can turn up on the big stage.

The Leopards created several chances against a defence with a solid reputation, and the Wissa-Bakambu partnership has enough quality to trouble Colombia. In a game where both sides can take a big step towards qualification, it would be no shock if each team scores at least once.

First, a word on our predictions

  • What we publish on mathodds is analysis, nothing more. We share an opinion, a read on the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport is what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a goal from nowhere… and the script changes completely.
  • Let’s be clear: there is no bet without risk. Even when something looks “obvious”, nothing truly is. And yes, that means you can lose. It is inevitable at some point.
  • The best approach is to stay sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Do not touch money you need to live on. And above all: do not chase your losses, it rarely ends well.
  • A bet should stay a game, not a job or a source of income. If you feel it is taking up too much space in your day-to-day life, making you angry or putting you under pressure, take a break. And if needed, speak to a specialist organisation. That is what they are there for.
  • In the end, the responsibility is yours. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, even with the best analysis in the world.
  • Essential reminder: betting is forbidden to minors and must comply with the law in your country. Gambling can spiral quickly (money loss, family tension, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.

No commitment from us

Our predictions are not a contract. They have no legal force. In plain English: you cannot use them to claim anything if a bet loses.

Things change

A prediction is always based on what we know when it is written. But in the meantime, a team sheet changes, a player gets hurt, the weather turns… and the analysis can quickly go out of date. We cannot be held responsible for that.

Your role

Before placing a bet, simply check that betting is legal where you are. If it is not, that is your responsibility, not ours.

Responsible gambling first

We cannot say it enough: gamble in moderation. If you struggle to stay in control, do not wait to get help. We cannot be responsible for compulsive or excessive use of the information published on the site.

Legal age

mathodds content is for adults only. By browsing here, you confirm that you are old enough by law to bet.
