Hear the call
Twenty-eight dollars, paid nine thousand times over, for a team that will not play a game until 2028. That is the bet Cleveland fans have already made. Rock Entertainment Group finally put a name to all that patience on Tuesday. The city’s incoming WNBA franchise will be the Cleveland Sirens.
Portland brought back the Fire when it rejoined the league. Cleveland went the other way and started from a blank page. Janice Braxton, who suited up for the Cleveland Rockers before that franchise folded in 2003, narrated the reveal.

A tease pulled straight from Greek myth
The buildup ran for days. “Hear the Call” appeared along the shore of Lake Erie, a wink at the sirens of Greek mythology whose song lured sailors off course.
The kits are still under wraps. The launch video leaned hard on blue, though, so expect that palette to carry over. Four logos have already surfaced. One of them stacks a mermaid tail and a trident into the letters “CLE”.
The Rockers still get their due
Owner Dan Gilbert has no interest in burying the past. He is promising Rockers tribute nights at Rocket Arena, the downtown building the Sirens will share with the Cavaliers.
The early numbers back him up. Those nine thousand season deals landed two full years before the first tip, which is no small thing for a team that does not yet have a roster.
