Bromley vs Leicester City: 22nd host 14th in a first competitive meeting League One

Bromley and Leicester City have never met in a competitive fixture. The first one is on Tuesday night at Hayes Lane, kick-off 7:45pm UK time, with Bromley 22nd in League One and Leicester 14th.

Bromley come into it on a run of four straight defeats in all competitions. The latest was a 1-0 loss at Stockport County at the weekend, Kyle Wootton scoring the only goal.

Leicester won at the weekend. John Lundstram opened the scoring against Doncaster Rovers, Kamari Doyle doubled the lead, and a late Warren O’Hora own goal was all Doncaster managed in a 2-1 home win.

Before that, Russell Martin’s side won 4-3 at Stockport and 2-0 against Plymouth, lost 4-0 at home to Oxford United, drew 1-1 at Barnsley and lost 3-1 at home to Peterborough. Five league games, 19 goals.

That’s where I’d look for the bet. Over their last ten games in all competitions, Leicester have kept two clean sheets and seen both teams score in seven. Away from home the figure is four in five.

Bromley: one win in ten and a defence conceding 2.6 a game Bromley

Andy Woodman’s side have won one of their last ten in all competitions, 2-1 at home to Huddersfield Town, and taken 0.5 points a game across that run.

The league results around that win: a 2-2 draw at Blackpool, a 2-1 defeat at Mansfield Town and Saturday’s 1-0 loss at Stockport. Outside the league they were beaten 4-0 by Crawley Town.

Bromley have conceded 2.6 goals a game over those ten matches, haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of them, and allowed 1.97 expected goals per game. At home over their last five, they’ve taken 0.8 points a game and failed to score in three.

They’ve been blank in five of the ten. But in the four league games listed above they scored in three, five goals in total, which is enough to make a Leicester clean sheet a long shot.

There were no new injury problems after Stockport, and Woodman can name an unchanged side. The expected front line has Pinnock, McKiernan and Jones behind Adeboyejo.

Leicester City: 2.11 expected goals a game, and two clean sheets in ten Leicester City

Over their last ten games Leicester have scored 1.8 goals a game from 2.11 expected goals. Their own defence has allowed 1.8 a game.

The heaviest defeat of that run was 4-0 at home to Oxford United, and two games later Peterborough won 3-1 in Leicester.

Away from home they’ve averaged one point a game over their last five: one win, two draws and two defeats. Both teams scored in four of those five.

Results outside the league have been mixed as well: a 6-1 win over Fulham’s under-21 side and a 2-1 defeat at Stevenage. Across all ten games they’ve failed to score only twice.

Martin has no new injury or suspension news. The expected side has McCarthy in goal, a back three of O’Hora, Souttar and Okoli, and Doyle and Braybrooke behind Riis.

Probable lineup Bromley: Smith; Ifill, Sowunmi, Jackson, Mendy; Saville, Conteh; Pinnock, McKiernan, Jones; Adeboyejo
Probable lineup Leicester City: McCarthy; O’Hora, Souttar, Okoli; Alves, Page, Lundstram, Thomas; Braybrooke, Doyle; Riis

Free Football Prediction: Bromley vs Leicester City

Our prediction: Both teams to score: Yes (1.57)

Leicester are the better side and should be favourites to win. Backing them at Hayes Lane means trusting a defence that has kept two clean sheets in ten games and conceded four and three at home in their last five league games.

Bromley have lost four in a row, but they scored twice against Huddersfield, twice at Blackpool and once at Mansfield in the league games before Stockport. They’ll get chances against a Leicester side that has seen both teams score in four of its last five away games.

Bromley’s xG of 1.17 a game over their last ten says they create enough to score once. I’d take both teams to score at 1.57. It doesn’t need Bromley to stop losing, only to score once against a side that rarely keeps a clean sheet.

About our free predictions

  • What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
  • Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
  • The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses: that rarely ends well.
  • A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
  • Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
  • Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.

Information changes

A prediction is always based on what we know at the time of writing. But between publication and kick-off, a lineup can change, a player picks up an injury, the weather turns, and the analysis can quickly be outdated. We cannot be held responsible for that.
