Brest vs PSG: five points to two, the champions arrive chasing the hosts 
Brest have five points from three Ligue 1 games, while Paris Saint-Germain have two. So the French champions head to Brittany three points behind their opponents on the night.
Kickoff is set for Sunday, September 13 at 8:45pm at Stade Francis-Le Blle, with the game closing out matchday four. Ligue 1+ will show the match, along with the other eight fixtures this weekend.
The gap is not just in the table. Brest have scored six and conceded five, while Paris have netted five and shipped six.
PSG still have not won a league game this season. They opened with back-to-back 2-2 draws at Rennes and Lille, before a 1-2 home defeat to Monaco on matchday three.
It is a jarring start for a side that lifted the title at Lens in May, securing a fifth straight crown and the 14th in their history. The Trophee des Champions had already slipped away on August 16, when they were beaten 1-0 by the same RC Lens.
Four official games in France, no wins: the pattern is starting to bite. It leaves the champions in a rare position before a trip to a side with momentum.
Brest, for their part, just claimed their first win of the season at Le Havre. The Bretons had drawn 2-2 in their previous two outings, away at Le Mans and at home to Toulouse.
One more factor hangs over this one: Paris opened their Champions League league phase on Wednesday, September 9 against Slovan Bratislava and cruised to a 5-1 win. Four days later, the trip to Brest comes with limited recovery time.
Francis-Le Bie is not the easiest place to stroll into on the back of that kind of schedule. The tighter European calendar leaves Luis Enrique without a full week to prepare.
Stade Brestois: three matches, three times two goals scored 
Brest have scored exactly two goals in each of their three games. That steady return puts the Bretons on the fifth-best attack in the division after two rounds, level with Lille and PSG.
The 2-1 win at Le Havre finally got their first victory on the board. It also allowed the Finistere club to move above direct rivals in the table.
Their first two matches followed the same script: two goals scored, two points dropped. A 2-2 draw at Le Mans on opening day, then another 2-2 at home to Toulouse.
Kamory Doumbia sits among Ligue 1’s top scorers with two goals from the first two rounds. The forward has been Brest’s main attacking reference since the restart.
Hugo Magnetti is also in the assist chart with one to his name. The midfielder, who joined the club in 2018, remains one of Brest’s key figures in the middle of the pitch.
Julien Lachuer is in his first season in charge, one of 11 other top-flight coaches in the same boat this year. The summer shake-up hit 12 of Ligue 1’s 18 clubs.
The problem is at the back: five goals conceded in three rounds, four of them in the first two matches. Brest have yet to keep a clean sheet this season.
Even so, that looseness has not stopped the Bretons from taking five points from nine. Scoring two goals every time is papering over the defensive cracks for now.
Hosting the French champions with no pressure on the board is a rare luxury for the Finistere side. Brest go into this with the psychological edge that comes from the table.

Paris Saint-Germain: two points from three games, a start like no other 
Two points from nine, no wins: PSG have made their weakest start of the current cycle. The reigning champions were down in 12th after two rounds.
The two away draws have followed the same script. Trailing by two at Rennes, the Parisians pulled it back to 2-2, then repeated the trick at Pierre-Mauroy against Lille.
Conceding two before hitting back, twice in a row, says plenty about PSG’s starts to games. The champions have spent more time chasing than leading.
Luis Enrique summed it up after the trip to Lille: “It shows how hard it is to play away,” the Spanish coach said on August 29, according to CulturePSG. That line carries extra weight heading into Brittany.
The 1-2 defeat to Monaco at the Parc des Princes made things worse. It handed the league’s last unbeaten side the top spot.
That result also robbed Paris of the one place where they still had a real chance to kick-start their season. Now the schedule sends them back on the road, where they have taken just two points from two attempts.
Going forward, there are still some signs of life. Ferran Torres has scored twice in the first two rounds and Fabian Ruiz leads Ligue 1’s assist chart with two.
The bigger issue is at the back, with six goals conceded in three matches. None of PSG’s three outings has ended with a clean sheet.
Five goals scored and six conceded is mid-table form. It does not belong to a club that has just strung together five titles.

All six league games played by the two sides this season have gone past the 2.5-goal mark. Brest have produced three games with four, four and three goals, while PSG have posted the exact same totals.
Both defences explain the trend: five goals conceded by Brest, six by Paris, and no clean sheets for either side. At the other end, the two attacks have scored six and five times in three rounds.
The European schedule only strengthens the case. A PSG side coming off a Champions League game three days earlier rarely manages a league match at a slow pace.
This should clear the 2.5-goal line on Sunday night at Francis-Le Bie. The attacking numbers and the shared defensive frailties point the same way.
