Ligue 1: Brest take Noah Edjouma on loan from Lille

Eight months in Lille, and he is already off

Noah Edjouma arrived at LOSC last January. He is out the door in September.

The 20-year-old midfielder was loaned to Stade Brestois 29 on Tuesday evening at 20:17, 18 minutes after the French transfer window had officially shut.

A France Under-21 international who joined from Toulouse at the start of the year, Edjouma never really got the run of games needed to settle at the Dogues.

A busy summer in Lille

Hard to blame him. LOSC spent the summer hoovering up signings.

Ayase Ueda, top scorer in the Dutch league last season with 25 goals, arrived from Feyenoord on Monday. Maurits Kjaergaard, a Denmark Under-21 international, signed a five-year deal from RB Salzburg. Matias Fernandez-Pardo is heading the other way, to Newcastle.

In that kind of traffic, a 20-year-old who landed six months ago does not get much room to breathe.

Brest had room for him

At the other end of the deal, Brest had a gap. Romain Del Castillo left the same day, bound for Osasuna.

So Stade Brestois pick up a player who needs minutes at exactly the moment they have some to hand out. That is usually how the better loans start.

Or not. We will know in November.
