Brentford vs Nottingham Forest: nine different scorers against a side with none at home Premier League

Igor Thiago scored 22 Premier League goals for Brentford in 2025-26. This season he has one goal and one assist in seven games, and Brentford have still scored 14 times in eight league matches, with nine different players on the scoresheet.

That spread is a big part of why Keith Andrews’ side are sixth. They have 11 points (W2 D5 L1, goals 14-9) and host Nottingham Forest on Saturday 31 October, with kick-off at 15:00 UK time.

Forest are 18th on six points, level with Coventry and one above Sunderland. Oliver Glasner, appointed on 6 July after Vítor Pereira left, has one league win from eight games, and his side have scored six goals.

The recent meetings have gone Forest’s way. They won 3-1 at the City Ground on 17 August 2025 and 2-0 at Brentford on 25 January 2026, and they won a pre-season friendly 2-0 this summer. Brentford’s last home league win in the fixture was 3-2 in January 2024.

Brentford also have the heavier week. They’re at Sunderland in the Carabao Cup last 16 on Wednesday at 19:45, while Forest went out of the League Cup against Leeds on 25 August and have no European football, so Glasner has had a full week on the training ground.

The prices make Brentford favourites at 2.00, with the draw at 3.80 and Forest at 3.75. Over 2.5 goals is around 1.70, a line that both sides’ recent games support more than their overall goal totals suggest.

Brentford: 8-3 in four home games and Yarmoliuk still banned Brentford

Brentford’s four home league games have produced 11 goals. They beat Tottenham 3-0 and Chelsea 3-0, drew 1-1 with Sunderland and lost 2-1 to Liverpool on 17 October, a game they finished with nine men.

Yegor Yarmoliuk was sent off that day for violent conduct, and his three-match ban covers the trip to Hull, the cup tie at Sunderland and this game. Vitaly Janelt was also dismissed, for two yellow cards, which normally carries a one-match ban that he served at Hull.

Kevin Schade leads the scoring with three league goals. Keane Lewis-Potter and Janelt have two each, while Lewis-Potter, Sangaré and Jaidon Anthony have one assist apiece.

Away from home it’s been draws. Brentford came back from Bournemouth and Aston Villa with 2-2s, and on Sunday they drew 1-1 at Hull, where Dango Ouattara equalised on 63 minutes after Oli McBurnie’s penalty. Five of their eight league games have finished level.

Josh Dasilva, Antoni Milambo and Kaye Furo are all injured, and Igor Thiago is still looking for his second league goal of the season. A changed side is expected at Sunderland on Wednesday, which gives Andrews the chance to keep his first-choice players fresh for Saturday.

Nottingham Forest: all six league goals scored on the road Nottingham Forest

Forest drew 1-1 at Ipswich on Friday 23 October. Neco Williams scored on 13 minutes, Enciso equalised before half-time, and the result stretched their run without a league win to four games.

Their only league win came at Aston Villa, 2-1 on 12 September. Since then they’ve lost 1-0 at home to Coventry, 3-1 at Crystal Palace and 1-0 at home to Arsenal before the point at Portman Road.

The split between home and away is wide. Forest haven’t scored a league goal at the City Ground this season, but their four away games have produced 13 goals in total: 2-2 at Liverpool, 2-1 at Villa, 3-1 at Palace and 1-1 at Ipswich.

The injury list is getting longer. Igor Jesus has a calf problem that was expected to keep him out for a few weeks from 9 October, Savona is injured, and Williams went off late at Ipswich with an elbow or arm injury that’s being assessed. Domínguez has a minor muscle injury, with the Manchester City game seen as the more realistic target for his return.

Gibbs-White came back at Ipswich and has two league assists. Ndoye leads the scoring with two, and Liam Delap, signed on 27 August for a fee reported between £45m and £50m, has one, in a summer when Elliot Anderson left for Manchester City for £116m.

The other arrivals haven’t made a big impact yet. Diomande cost £34.3m on 11 August and Muñoz £22m on 31 August, with Schlager joining on a free in July and Benda in mid-August, while Awoniyi left for Coventry.

Our prediction: Over 2.5 goals (1.70)

I’m taking over 2.5 goals at 1.70. Brentford’s four home league games have averaged 2.75 goals, and Forest’s four away games have averaged more than three, with at least two goals in every one of them.

Forest’s low total of six league goals hides where they come from. Every one of them has been scored away from home, and a Brentford side without Yarmoliuk in midfield is more open than the one that kept Spurs and Chelsea out.

Brentford’s habit of drawing is the case against, and a 1-1 would sink this pick. I’d still back two attacks that have scored in most of their games, with Schade, Lewis-Potter and Janelt sharing the goals for Brentford and Forest having found the net in every away game so far.

About our free predictions

  • What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
  • Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
  • The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses: that rarely ends well.
  • A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
  • Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
  • Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.

Information changes

A prediction is always based on what we know at the time of writing. But between publication and kick-off, a lineup can change, a player picks up an injury, the weather turns, and the analysis can quickly be outdated. We cannot be held responsible for that.
