Bezzecchi shatters the Misano lap record
1’29”982. Until Saturday morning, no rider had ever gone under 1’30 at Misano, and Francesco Bagnaia’s 1’30”031 from 2024 had stood as the marker. Marco Bezzecchi wiped it out on his first flying lap of qualifying for the San Marino Grand Prix, then parked the Aprilia. Pole was his.
He was half a second clear of the field at that stage. Marc Marquez chipped away at the gap as the session ran on without ever looking like taking the top spot away, and the reigning champion lines up second, 198 thousandths back. Fermin Aldeguer rounds out the front row on the Gresini Ducati GP25, 368 thousandths adrift.

Bagnaia sinks to 14th in front of his own fans
Fabio Di Giannantonio heads the second row. He had been running second until a late crash dropped him to fourth. Championship leader Jorge Martin qualified fifth, 587 thousandths behind his team-mate, with Luca Marini putting the Honda sixth. Johann Zarco, 11th, is under investigation for blocking Bezzecchi.
The former world champions had a rougher morning of it. Fabio Quartararo and Bagnaia were both eliminated in Q1, the Frenchman two tenths short of making the cut. Bagnaia starts 14th. That is his worst qualifying performance at Misano, and it lands on what is almost certainly his last home race in factory Ducati colours. Marquez had been quickest in the morning Practice session, ahead of Martin and Bezzecchi.
Nineteen points, 13 laps, three riders who could lead by tonight
Martin goes into the sprint 19 points up on Marquez and 24 clear of Bezzecchi. Any of the three could be leading the championship by Sunday evening.
Bezzecchi has run this script before. Twelve months ago at Misano he took pole, won the sprint and then went toe-to-toe with Marquez on race day. Franco Morbidelli starts eighth but owes a long-lap penalty for blocking Enea Bastianini on Friday. Maverick Vinales sits out a third straight round, with Pol Espargaro deputising at Tech3 and qualifying 12th.
