Besiktas vs Eyupspor : two teams arriving at the opener from completely different places in the Turkish league
Besiktas come into the opening round already sharpened by four competitive matches. Eyupspor, by contrast, have only had friendlies since they returned to work.
That gap in rhythm shapes the whole picture. One side is already up to speed; the other is still trying to get moving.
Vincenzo Italiano replaced Sergen Yalcin this summer, after the Turkish coach left by mutual consent in May. His European record is crystal clear: four wins from four Europa League qualifiers.
The key detail? The Black Eagles have shipped just two goals across those four games. The defensive work was in place before the league even kicked off.
At the other end, Ozhan Pulat has inherited a dressing room that went through three coaches last season. Arda Turan left for Shakhtar Donetsk, then Selcuk Sahin and Orhan Ak took turns in the dugout before the new man arrived.
Besiktas finished fourth in the 2025-26 Super Lig, snatching a European spot in the closing sprint. Eyupspor, meanwhile, spent the second half of the campaign battling a back line that simply could not keep a clean sheet.
The balance of power looks pretty clear. The only question is how big the gap will be at Tüpraş Stadium.
Besiktas : a strengthened squad and a match rhythm already in place
Four games, four wins, two goals conceded. Besiktas’ European run this summer leaves little room for debate.
Midtjylland were swept aside 3-0 on aggregate, Hradec Kralove 2-0. Two controlled ties, no slip-ups, no drama.
Orkun Kokcu has emerged as the main man in that spell, alongside Wilfred Ndidi in midfield. The pair have given Italiano the balance the club has been chasing for some time.
At the back, Alexander Nubel settled quickly in goal and has brought the calm that was missing. Summer signings did the rest, with Leandro Trossard, Kassoum Ouattara, Elan Ricardo, Ilhan Fakili and Dusan Vlahovic all arriving.
There is just one fitness concern: Tiago Djalo came off injured in the second leg against Hradec Kralove. Emmanuel Agbadou is the obvious man to step in at centre-back if the Portuguese defender does not make it.
Hyeon-Gyu Oh should lead the line, with a level of depth Italiano did not have at the start of pre-season. That is the most obvious edge heading into the opener.
Try it for $0.99.
Eyupspor : a full rebuild and a brutal opening run
Twelve straight games without a clean sheet at the end of last season. That stat says everything about the mess Ozhan Pulat has walked into.
A change in the dugout has not fixed the defensive frailty. It survived all three coaches who took charge last season.
The recruitment drive has been heavy on arrivals, with Abdelhamid Sabiri from Fiorentina, Mete Demir and Ahmed Abdullahi among the additions. The stated aim was to bring in players who fit the new coach’s style.
The problem is the departures, which have been just as numerous. Goalkeeper Berke Ozer, Marcos Felipe and Umut Meras have all gone, leaving holes in key areas.
Jawad El Yamiq is still out and working his way back. Another absence in a unit that really did not need one.
In pre-season, Eyupspor beat Mardin 1969 1-0 and Istanbulspor 2-0. Nice enough warm-up wins, but they tell us very little about what awaits at Tüpraş Stadium.
Pulat is also likely to bring his new signings on during the game rather than throw them in from the start, which says plenty about how he views this trip. Not exactly the ideal setting for experiments.
Probable Besiktas XI : Nubel ; Murillo, Agbadou, Topcu, Ouattara ; Ozcan ; Cerny, Olaitan, Kokcu, Fakili ; Oh
Probable Eyupspor XI : Moldovan ; Calegari, Jules, Satli ; Ulvan ; Taskin, Yao ; Boutobba, Costa, Michalak ; Abdullahi
Football prediction Besiktas vs Eyupspor
Our tip : Besiktas to win with a -1.5 handicap
The straight home win is priced at around 1.30 with the bookmakers, which is too short to be of much use. The handicap brings some value back into a view that still points the same way.
Besiktas have conceded only two goals in four European matches and now face a side that went 12 games without a clean sheet at the end of last season. The difference in match sharpness is joined by the gulf in squad quality.
A two-goal Besiktas win looks the most logical outcome based on both clubs’ build-up. Back the -1.5 handicap.
in your pocket.

First, a word on our free picks
- What we publish on mathodds is analysis, nothing more. We give an opinion, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport is what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a freak goal… and the script changes fast.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks obvious, it really isn’t. And yes, that means you can lose. In fact, you will, sooner or later.
- The smart move is to stay sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Do not touch money you need to live on. And above all: do not chase losses, it rarely ends well.
- A bet should stay a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your life, if it winds you up or puts you under pressure, take a break. And if needed, speak to a specialist body. That is what they are there for.
- In the end, the responsibility is yours. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never go away, even with the best analysis in the world.
- Essential reminder: betting is not allowed for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Gambling can go wrong quickly (money losses, family tension, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.
No commitment from us
Our predictions are not a contract. They have no legal force. Put simply: you cannot rely on them to claim compensation if a bet loses.
Information that changes
A prediction is always based on what we know when it is written. But in the meantime, a team sheet changes (like Besiktas’ one, for example), a player gets injured, the weather turns nasty… and the analysis can quickly be out of date. We cannot be held responsible for that.
Your role
Before you bet, check that wagering is legal where you are. If it is not, that is your responsibility, not ours.
