Lemmen strikes on the climb to Karpacz
Bart Lemmen claimed the biggest win of his career on Thursday, attacking inside the final five kilometers to take stage 4 of the Tour de Pologne at the mountain finish in Karpacz. The Dutchman held off Christian Scaroni to the line and moved into the yellow jersey.
It was Lemmen’s first professional victory, and it handed Visma a result the team wanted badly. Axel Laurance rounded out the podium in third.

A stage marked by chaos
The day carried more than a race for the line. A crash involving around 30 riders struck 42 kilometers from the finish, forcing officials to neutralize the race and trim the route by 15 kilometers. The bunch regrouped before the closing climb settled matters.
Lemmen timed his move well, jumping clear on the ascent and refusing to let Scaroni back onto his wheel. He now leads the 83rd edition of the race with the toughest mountains still ahead.
