Austin FC vs Seattle Sounders FC – Free MLS Prediction – July 22, 2026

Austin FC vs Seattle Sounders FC : a clash that could kickstart two teams in need of a spark Major League Soccer

The return of league action gives Austin FC a timely chance to drag themselves out of the mess. Struggling badly for weeks, the Texas club host Seattle Sounders, who are also short on confidence after a run of poor results that has stalled their strong start to the season.

While Seattle sit higher in the Western Conference, both teams come into this one needing a response. The hosts want to end their winless run, while the Sounders are out to wipe out the heavy defeat they took against Portland before the break.

Austin have been going through a rough spell, picking up just one point from their last four MLS matches. Even so, the Texans have a few reasons to hope as the league resumes, not least their decent record at home, where they have still shown they can go toe to toe with some of the conference heavyweights.

Myrto Uzuni remains the main threat in attack for the Verdes. The Albania international has scored more than half his goals at home this season, and his finishing will once again be vital if his side are to get back to winning ways. Christian Ramirez also brings experience in the final third.

The recent results are hardly inspiring, but Austin have often been a tough out in front of their own fans. The win over Seattle in their last meeting at Q2 Stadium is another positive marker heading into this latest showdown.

Seattle’s momentum has completely gone the other way in recent weeks. Brian Schmetzer’s side are on a three-match losing streak, including a brutal 5-1 hammering by the Portland Timbers, a result that exposed their defensive problems for all to see.

The absence of several key players, including Cristian Roldan, only makes life harder for the Sounders. Paul Rothrock and Albert Rusnak will need to shoulder more of the attacking burden if Seattle are to get a flatlining forward line moving again.

Even with that poor run, Seattle still have a strong squad and their away form has been decent this season. They know, though, that another slip-up could see them slide further in a Western Conference that remains as tight as ever.

Likely line-ups :

Austin FC : Stuver ; Desler, Svatok, Bell, Biro ; Pereira ; Torres, Rosales, Wolff, Gallagher ; Ramirez.

Seattle Sounders FC : Thomas ; Kossa-Rienzi, Lopez, Regan, Nouhou ; Brunell, Dotson ; Ferreira, Rusnak, Rothrock ; Morris.

MLS prediction : Austin FC vs Seattle Sounders FC

Austin FC or draw

Austin are not exactly rolling into this one in top gear, but Seattle have plenty of questions hanging over them too after three straight defeats. The Sounders have just shipped five against Portland and will need a lot more stability if they are to leave with all three points.

The Texans can lean on their home record, where they have looked a very different side this season. With Uzuni in good form in front of their own fans and an opponent low on belief, Austin have the tools to go up against one of the Western Conference’s benchmark sides.

Given the current issues facing both teams, the double chance on Austin looks like a smart play. The hosts appear well placed to avoid defeat in front of their supporters against a Seattle side still stung by their recent bad run.

First, a word on our predictions

  • What we publish on mathodds is analysis, nothing more. We give an opinion, a read on the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport is what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a freak goal… and the script changes completely.
  • Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when something looks “obvious”, it really isn’t. And yes, that means you can lose. In fact, you will at some point.
  • The best approach is to stay sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Above all, don’t touch money you need to live on. And never chase losses, because that rarely ends well.
  • A bet should stay a bit of fun, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your life, if it winds you up or puts you under pressure, take a break. And if needed, speak to a specialist support group. That’s what they’re there for.
  • In the end, responsibility is yours. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, even with the best analysis in the world.
  • Important reminder: betting is forbidden for minors and must comply with the law in your country. Gambling can spiral quickly (money lost, family tension, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.

No commitment from us

Our predictions are not a contract. They carry no legal weight. Put simply: you cannot rely on them to claim anything if a bet loses.

Information that can change

A prediction is always based on what we know when it is written. But in the meantime, a team sheet changes, a player gets injured, the weather turns… and the analysis can quickly be out of date. We cannot be held responsible for that.

Your role

Before you bet, check that betting is legal where you are. If it is not, that is your responsibility, not ours.
