Nineteen runs, plenty of lead changes, and in the end a 10-9 win for the visitors.

Atlanta still holds the edge in the series, but the Mets may have found a bit of belief at just the right time. One thing is clear: the pitchers have hardly had an easy night since this matchup began. With 44 runs across just three games, both lineups head into this one swinging.

Atlanta Braves : the bats are still doing the job

Sunday’s defeat will sting a little. Scoring nine runs at home is usually enough to win a baseball game. Not this time. Atlanta found the answers at the plate, but never quite slammed the door on the Mets.

The Mets needed a night like Sunday. After a run of awkward outings, the offense finally let loose with 10 runs in the ballpark of an Atlanta side that is tough to beat at home.

Now the task is to back it up. New York has struggled badly away from home this season, and its pitchers have already taken plenty of punishment in this series. Against a Braves attack that is not slowing down, another rough night on the mound would hardly come as a shock.

Freddy Peralta will be the man asked to put out the fire. The right-hander has been inconsistent this season and his 4,81 ERA does not inspire much confidence against a lineup that has already put up 28 runs in three games. If he hands out free passes, Atlanta has more than enough firepower to turn them into runs in a hurry.

This series has turned into an offensive scrap, and there is little to suggest the pace is about to drop off a cliff. Atlanta has been producing from game one and still managed nine runs in defeat. New York, meanwhile, finally found its timing with 10 runs on Sunday.

The pitching edge goes slightly to the Braves, but Reynaldo Lopez is now facing a Mets side that has just rediscovered a bit of confidence. At the other end, Freddy Peralta has a difficult assignment against an Atlanta lineup that will force him to work for every out.

With both offences in decent shape and the bullpens already heavily used in this series, another lively game looks the likeliest outcome. It should not take another 19-run shootout to land this bet: steady scoring from both sides can get over the 8,5 mark.
