Oakland, meanwhile, will need to produce far more at the plate than it has in recent outings if it wants to keep pace. The loss of Zack Gelof only makes life harder for a team that already lacks consistency with the bat.

The Dodgers simply have more answers in every area. Their offensive depth, their experience and their knack for coming through when it matters make them the clear pick here. The Athletics might hang around for a while behind Gage Jump, but the overall quality of Los Angeles should tell in the end.
