Aston Villa vs Fulham: Jackson’s Villa against a side that hasn’t scored twice in five league games
Onana’s knee injury is expected to keep him out for the season, Wan-Bissaka won’t be back before mid-November and Ruggeri is out until the new year. Aston Villa still beat Manchester City 2-1 on Saturday, handing City their first league defeat of the season.
Nicolas Jackson scored both, on six minutes and on the hour, either side of an Erling Haaland equaliser. Villa are ninth on 11 points from eight games (W3 D2 L3), and they host Fulham on Saturday 31 October, with kick-off at 20:00 UK time.
Fulham are 15th on eight points (W2 D2 L4). Álvaro Arbeloa’s side won 1-0 at Coventry last weekend through Oscar Bobb’s 80th-minute goal, their first away win in nine attempts, a week after beating Hull 1-0 at Craven Cottage.
Villa have won their last five home league meetings with Fulham, including 3-1 on 28 September 2025 and 1-0 on 3 May 2025. Fulham’s most recent win in the fixture came at Craven Cottage on 25 April 2026, when Ryan Sessegnon scored the only goal.
Both sides play in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday: Villa at Bournemouth and Fulham at home to Crystal Palace. For Villa that makes four games in 11 days after the Champions League win over Viking on 21 October, and I don’t think it’ll be enough to stop them.
Aston Villa: seven goals for Jackson since his club-record move
Jackson joined from Chelsea on 28 August for a club-record fee reported at £65m. He has seven goals in all competitions, four of them in the league, and he arrived in the same week that Ollie Watkins left for Al Hilal.
The goals are spread beyond him in all competitions. Barkley has four, none of them in the league, Manzambi, Buendía and Abraham have three each, and McGinn has two.
Unai Emery’s squad changed a lot over the summer. Morgan Rogers went to Chelsea, Ezri Konsa to Arsenal and Emiliano Martínez to Chelsea, while Goretzka arrived on a free and Mbaye came from PSG on deadline day.
The home league record has only just turned. Villa lost 1-0 to Arsenal and 2-1 to Nottingham Forest at Villa Park, drew 2-2 with Brentford on 10 October, and the City win was their first home league victory of the season. Across all eight league games they’ve scored nine and conceded 12, a goal difference of minus three despite sitting ninth.
Europe has gone better. Villa beat Fenerbahçe 6-0 and Viking 3-1, with Barkley, Buendía from the spot and an own goal in the second, and they’re second in the Champions League league phase on nine points. They also won 1-0 at Newcastle on 17 October.
Cissé (groin) is back in training and Manzambi has a minor knock. Heavy rotation is expected at Bournemouth on Wednesday, with Jackson likely to start on the bench, which should leave Emery’s strongest side fresher for Saturday night.

Fulham: two 1-0 wins in a row, and no more than one goal in any of their last five league games
Fulham haven’t scored more than once in any of their last five league games. The wins over Hull and Coventry were both 1-0, and before them came a 2-1 defeat at Ipswich on 10 October, a 1-1 with Manchester United and a 0-0 at Liverpool.
The away record is built on defending. In four league trips they’ve lost 1-0 at Sunderland, drawn at Anfield, lost at Ipswich and won at Coventry, scoring two goals and conceding three.
Bobb has been the match-winner lately. He joined from Manchester City for £27m in January and has two goals in all competitions, the winner at Coventry and another in the 3-2 Carabao Cup win at West Ham on 15 September.
Arbeloa took over on 7 July after Marco Silva left, and the club spent £34.2m on Gonzalo García from Real Madrid and £26m on Shea Charles from Southampton. Fulham have eight league goals in eight games all the same.
Sessegnon is serving a three-match domestic ban. The Palace tie on Wednesday is the second game of it, which leaves him out at Villa Park, and Emile Smith Rowe is a doubt.
The goal markets reflect Fulham’s limits less than the 1X2 does. Over 2.5 goals is around 1.67 and both teams to score 1.62, and Villa’s four home league games have produced 11 goals between them, an average of almost three a game.

Our prediction: Aston Villa to win (1.91)
I’m backing Villa to win at 1.91. They’ve just beaten the side that hadn’t lost all season, they have a striker on seven goals, and they’ve won their last five home league meetings with Fulham. Fulham have won one league game away from home in their last nine attempts.
The fixture list is the concern, with a fourth game in 11 days. Emery is expected to rotate at Bournemouth, though, and Fulham also play on Wednesday, so neither side has a rest advantage.
Fulham’s ceiling is the bigger factor. A team that hasn’t scored twice in a league game since 5 September needs a clean sheet to win at Villa Park, and Villa have scored in every home league game but one.

About our free predictions
- What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
- The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses: that rarely ends well.
- A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
- Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
- Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.

Information changes
A prediction is always based on what we know at the time of writing. But between publication and kick-off, a lineup can change, a player picks up an injury, the weather turns, and the analysis can quickly be outdated. We cannot be held responsible for that.
