Arthur Theate is a Bologna FC 1909 player again. The Italian club confirmed it on Sunday: a paid loan from Eintracht Frankfurt running to 30 June 2027, with a purchase option set at 15 million euros and bonuses layered on top.

The Belgian broke through here. A single full campaign in Bologna, then Rennes came calling and he was gone.
Thirty-six caps for Belgium have followed. France, then Germany. He comes back at 26 carrying a reputation he did not have when he left.
“Theate returns to the Rossoblu as a more mature player,” the club statement read. Put less diplomatically, a Serie A side has just picked up a full international at a bargain rate.

The structure of the option tells you how cautious Bologna are being. No all-in bet. They want to watch him for a season first.
Frankfurt are protected either way. A good year and the sale pays for itself. A bad one and Theate is back in the Bundesliga next June, with nobody out of pocket.
