$427 a tackle, and the number is the point
Four hundred and twenty-seven dollars. That was the cost of the plane ticket that got Arion Carter suspended, and it is now the amount he will donate for every tackle he makes this season. The money goes toward medical bills for cancer patients. The Tennessee linebacker laid the plan out in a story On3.com published today.
The ticket had been paid for by his agent, to get him to a pre-draft training facility. Improper benefit, said the NCAA. Carter paid it back. He sat out the opener anyway.
Tackles are only the base rate. Sacks are worth 500 dollars, interceptions and forced fumbles 1,000, a defensive touchdown 5,000.

His girlfriend is going through it right now
Mariah Bryant, Carter’s girlfriend, is being treated for breast cancer. Part of the money will go to Sisters Network Nashville, which helps patients cover treatment costs. He is running the rest through Girls in Real Life Situations, the non-profit his mother founded.
“It was obviously tough not to be out there playing the sport you love and putting so much time and emotion into it,” Carter said. “But I think it gave me a different perspective on the game and on life in general, a sense of gratitude. When you get your chance back, you take it.”
He watched from the stands while No 20 Tennessee put 56 on Furman.

Carter pulled out of the 2026 NFL draft to come back to Knoxville. The tape says he was worth the wait.
He led the SEC in tackles last season at 7.6 a game and made the all-conference team: 76 tackles, six for loss, 1.5 sacks in 10 games. Career totals sit at 161 tackles, 13.5 for loss, a forced fumble, a recovery and an interception across 31 games.
