Adelaide 36ers vs Brisbane Bullets: Bryce Cotton against a depleted Bullets rotation
The Adelaide 36ers host the Brisbane Bullets at Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Sunday 1 November, with tip-off at 7h00 Paris time. It is a Round 7 fixture in NBL27 and a chance for Adelaide to move to 6-5.
Adelaide won 108-101 in Auckland on Friday to level their record at 5-5. Brisbane lost to Cairns on Thursday and now play again on a short turnaround.
The Bullets were 4-4 before the Cairns game, a big step up on a club that won six games in the whole of last season. Their import Nate Hinton has driven that rise.
Beforeyoubet lists Brisbane without Max Mackinnon, Lay Mayen, Arnas Velicka, Sam McDaniel and Jacob Holt. That is a heavy absence list for a team that played three nights earlier.
The market sees the same picture, with Adelaide a 7.5-point favourite on the handicap and priced at 1.33 to win outright. The question is whether the favourite price hides any value or simply reflects reality.
Adelaide have been inconsistent but looked encouraging in Auckland, with Cotton, the reigning MVP, influential late. Brisbane lost to Cairns and have the shorter turnaround.
The 36ers are 9th on the ladder per the NBL’s own preview, one win off fourth. A win moves them into a congested race for the top four.
Sunday’s meeting is the second of two Round 7 games for each side, and the two clubs enter it from opposite directions in the standings. Adelaide are climbing from a slow start, while Brisbane are trying to protect an early-season gain.
Adelaide 36ers Analysis
Adelaide are 5-5 after Friday’s win and sit ninth on the ladder according to the NBL, though they are only one win from fourth. Bryce Cotton called the 4-5 start nothing to panic about and described the group as very battle tested.
Cotton was the story again in Auckland with 31 points, 6 assists and 13 points in the fourth quarter. Through nine games he averages 27.4 points and 7.1 assists in 37.7 minutes.
The support was real this time. John Jenkins III scored 21, Nick Rakocevic had 17 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists, and Zylan Cheatham added 17 points and 7 rebounds.
Matt Kenyon returned from a back injury on Friday. Flynn Cameron, out since a Round 1 ankle sprain, is getting closer by the week, while Bul Kuol targets a December return from an ACL injury.
The decisive point is the scoring load. Adelaide averaged 89.3 points before Friday, so a second night of balanced output would settle this game early.
Friday’s win also answered a question about the supporting cast. Keanu Rasmussen hit the decisive three after Cotton had done the heavy lifting.
Adelaide’s coach Trevor Gleeson had spoken about the team struggling with its depth after a loss to the Phoenix. The 108-point night in Auckland suggests the rotation is settling.
Adelaide’s home floor gives them a rest edge too. Brisbane played Thursday in Brisbane and fly south, while the 36ers return from New Zealand with two days to recover.
The 36ers also have a clear plan with the ball. Cotton runs the offence, Jenkins and Rakocevic share the scoring, and Cheatham brings rebounding and energy.

Brisbane Bullets Analysis
Brisbane were 4-4 going into Thursday’s derby and lost it to Cairns. They average 94.6 points and concede 96.4, a record that fits a side living on margins.
Nate Hinton averages 18.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists and a league-leading 2.6 steals. He has scored in double figures in all eight games he has played.
Raul Neto signed as Arnas Velicka’s replacement and had 11 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists in his first start, a 98-81 win over Illawarra. Tyrell Harrison, Max Mackinnon and Archie Woodhill all contributed in that game.
Velicka is expected back in Rounds 11 and 12, while Jacob Holt and Sam McDaniel are tracking for Round 10. None of them help on Sunday.
The decisive point is energy. Brisbane play their second game in four days against a guard who plays close to 38 minutes.
Brisbane’s win over Illawarra, 98-81, showed what the Bullets can do at full tilt. Hinton had 21 points, 6 assists and 3 steals in that game.
Hinton said the team is stronger than ever and that there is no ceiling on what they can do. The ladder supports the confidence, but the injury list limits how long that confidence lasts on a given night.
Neto’s arrival changed the point guard picture in Brisbane. His 11 points in the first start suggest the Bullets have found stability after losing Velicka.
Without Mackinnon and Mayen, the wing rotation is thin. Hinton cannot defend Cotton and score at his usual rate for 38 minutes.

Our prediction: Adelaide 36ers to win
Adelaide have the best player on the floor and a home crowd. Cotton scored 37 against the Phoenix and 31 in Auckland, and Brisbane have no obvious answer.
The Bullets are short of rotation players and short of rest. Hinton can keep them close for a half, but the depth gap grows as the game wears on.
Back Adelaide to win at home. The 36ers have the star, the support cast from Friday and the fresher legs.
The handicap line of 7.5 points asks a lot of the favourite. A narrow Adelaide win would not surprise us, but the straight win is the safer reading.
Brisbane’s derby loss, the short turnaround and the five absentees listed by Beforeyoubet all point in one direction.
Our read is straightforward. Cotton’s form, the home floor and the better rest give Adelaide the advantage, and Brisbane’s absentee list limits how long they can stay in front.

About our free predictions
- What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute basket, and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
- The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses, that rarely ends well.
- A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation, that’s what they’re there for.
- Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
- Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.

Our predictions carry no contractual value. They have no legal standing. In short: you cannot rely on them to claim anything if a bet doesn’t come through.
Information changes
A prediction is always based on what we know at the time of writing. But between publication and tip-off, a lineup can change (like Adelaide 36ers’s, for example), a player picks up an injury, and the analysis can quickly be outdated. We cannot be held responsible for that.
Your responsibility
Before placing a bet, simply check that gambling is legal in your country. If it isn’t, that’s your responsibility, not ours.
