AC Milan vs Venezia: 11-0 on aggregate over the last four meetings 
Venezia have lost their last four league meetings with AC Milan over the past decade, by an aggregate score of 11-0. Going four games against the same opponent without scoring is not exactly a statistical fluke.
Matchday 2 in Serie A is played on Friday 28 August at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, with kick-off at 20:45 Italian time. Across the history of this fixture, Milan have 22 wins, seven draws and four defeats.
The Rossoneri come in after opening their campaign with a 2-1 win in Turin against Torino. Ruben Amorim has become the club’s first coach to win his Serie A debut in 10 years.
Venezia, back in the top flight, failed to get off the mark at home to Lecce and are still waiting for their first goal in the elite division. They did, though, have two efforts ruled out at the Stadio Penzo.
The big question is how Milan will handle San Siro, where they won fewer than half their home games in 2025-26, the seventh-best home record in the league. The final-day loss to Cagliari cost them Champions League football.

Milan took their time to get going in Turin before pulling clear after the break. Alphadjo Cisse, on his debut, and Adrien Rabiot scored the two goals in the 2-1 win.
That result ends an oddity: the club had not won their opening league game since 2023. Che Adams did pull one back in stoppage time, denying the Rossoneri a clean sheet.
Amorim used his familiar 3-4-2-1 from day one and is unlikely to change it on Friday. Goncalo Ramos, the club’s record signing, leads the line.
Competition for that spot has thinned out to Francesco Camarda, with Santiago Gimenez and Rafael Leao both on the way out and Christopher Nkunku having just returned to Leipzig. Luka Modric, rested in Turin, could come back into the side.
Rabiot made a real impact after moving into a more advanced role, scoring and setting up a goal. That display puts him in line to keep Ruben Loftus-Cheek on the bench.

Venezia: record numbers in Serie B, a very different story in the top flight 
Venezia went up after breaking their own club records in Serie B for points, goals and wins. None of that counted for much in the season opener against Lecce.
Giovanni Stroppa was left to rue his side’s bad luck, with two goals chalked off while the visitors hit the target twice. This is the club’s third promotion in six years, and the previous two were followed by an immediate drop back down.
The transfer market was handled with ambition to avoid a repeat. Akor Adams, the most expensive signing in the club’s history, scored twice on his debut in the Coppa Italia against Modena.
John Yeboah, who produced 19 goals or assists during the promotion push, should partner him up front. That pair are Venezia’s main attacking threat.
The treatment room is making life harder, with Marin Sverko and Andrea Adorante ruled out, the latter after scoring 17 league goals last season. Matias Moreno, signed this summer, remains a doubt with a muscle issue, which could see Stroppa stick with the back three he used against Lecce.

The 11-0 aggregate across the last four league meetings is no coincidence: Venezia have not scored against this opponent in the last decade. They are still hunting their first top-flight goal of the season.
Milan will put out Goncalo Ramos, a flying Rabiot and probably Modric in midfield, with a system already well bedded in after that opening win in Turin. Venezia, by contrast, are without Adorante and his 17 goals from last season, with a back three missing Sverko and still uncertain over Moreno.
