A name out of Milan, ten days before the deadline
La Gazzetta dello Sport put Ruben Dias on the front of Milan’s shopping list on Sunday. The Manchester City centre-back is one of the profiles the Rossoneri have looked at as the window runs down.
That is where it stops for now. No offer has gone in, nothing has been agreed, nobody at either club is briefing about a done deal. A name on a list, no more than that.
What is real is the need. Milan have made signing a centre-back one of their priorities before the market shuts.

Milan want a voice, and Dias has spent five years being one
He is 29. He organises, he talks, he reads danger two passes before it arrives, and he has done it inside a City dressing room where nothing is handed to anyone. Those are the exact qualities Milan have been missing at the back.
Two muscle injuries interrupted his last campaign. Whenever he was available, though, he started. Nobody displaced him.
Three years left on his contract, and City are not desperate
The deal is the problem. Dias is signed at Manchester City until 2029, and he carries genuine weight in that squad. Defenders of his standing with that much time remaining do not usually move in a fortnight without something unusual happening.
Milan think there might be an opening anyway. La Gazzetta suggest City are ready to refresh parts of the squad, which puts a conversation on the table that would have been impossible last summer.
One more thing works in Milan’s favour. The Portuguese presence around the club has grown, and their working relationship with Jorge Mendes makes a move like this less awkward to test.
Interest is cheap. Turning it into a negotiation is the hard part, and there are ten days left to try.
