Roman Burki finished with his third clean sheet of the season, needing just four saves. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting came closest for the hosts in the second half, but a defensive block denied him.

The win extends St. Louis’ unbeaten run to 17 matches, the best in MLS. The club sits on 47 points at 13-6-8, second in the Western Conference and three behind Vancouver.
The all-time MLS record is 19 games without a loss, set by Columbus in 2004-05 and matched by Dallas in 2010. St. Louis is two matches away from equaling it, and three from owning it outright.
A Red Bulls side stretched thin
New York (9-12-6, 33 points) stays eighth in the Eastern Conference. The Red Bulls were hit by 10 international call-ups during the break. They created chances but could not finish any of them.
