USAP vs Union Bordeaux-Begles: the league leaders in points difference head to Aimé-Giral without their fly-half 
Union Bordeaux-Begles have the best points difference in the league after three rounds as they head into their clash with USAP, sitting on +53. No one else in the top flight has done better, not even LOU with three wins from three.
This weekend, that form book lands at Stade Aimé-Giral on Saturday 26 September at 14:30 to kick off round four. Perpignan host a side that just put 40 points on Stade Francais.
The table tells its own story: Bordeaux-Begles are third with 10 points, USAP are 10th with 5. Bordeaux have two bonus points, the Catalans only one.
But one detail changes the picture. Matthieu Jalibert confirmed this Tuesday that he suffered a quad tear against Stade Francais, with a return expected in about four weeks according to Rugbyrama.
USAP, meanwhile, arrive on the back of a painful 50-13 hammering at Montpellier. Three matches, one win, and already 107 points conceded.
This one should be decided on a simple axis: can the Catalans keep the ball alive long enough to trouble a Bordeaux side forced to rethink its attack without its first-choice No 10?

Attack is not the main issue, with 82 points scored and a bonus point already banked. The problem is consistency, with their form line reading loss, win, loss.
Round three left a mark. Blown away 50-13 at Montpellier, USAP conceded almost half their total points against in that one match alone.
USAP are level on 5 points with Clermont and remain three points off eighth. They are four points behind the top six and a play-off spot.
Their 82 points scored still leaves them ninth in the Top 14 attack rankings. The potential is there. It just has not been turned into results often enough.
Over three rounds, USAP have gone loss, win, loss. No rhythm, no momentum, no run of confidence.
Home games remain their biggest weapon. The club has built its survival in recent seasons on the Aimé-Giral fortress. Add a 14:30 kick-off and September heat that can drag the pace down, and suddenly the lively stuff gets harder to sustain.
The key battle will be up front. If USAP can control the scrum and lineout, they can starve Bordeaux of the ball they need to cover for the absence of their chief playmaker.

116 points scored, 63 conceded: Bordeaux-Begles boast the league’s third-best attack and second-best defence. That balance is what puts them top of the pile on points difference with +53.
The numbers are strong too: 2 wins, 1 loss and 2 bonus points. Bordeaux-Begles sit third, level on points with Stade Toulousain.
Round three was a statement: 40-10 against Stade Francais, with a bonus-point win to go with it. Bordeaux’s defence only cracked once in that game.
The downside has a name. Matthieu Jalibert picked up a thigh injury and will miss about four weeks, a setback the player confirmed himself on Tuesday.
Even so, Bordeaux’s young guns showed they can handle the pressure. Hugo Avogadro, 19, started on the wing in place of Louis Bielle-Biarrey and scored on his Top 14 debut.
The real edge here is depth. A side that can field a 19-year-old and still win 40-10 has enough in reserve to absorb the loss of an international No 10.
Bordeaux-Begles are level on 10 points with Stade Toulousain. Only four points separate them from LOU, the only unbeaten side left in the competition.
Bordeaux’s 63 points conceded are 44 fewer than USAP have shipped in the same span. That is the biggest defensive gap of round four.
