Atalanta are unbeaten in eight straight trips to the Allianz Stadium. Before this run, the Bergamo club had lost their previous eight visits to Juventus.
That historic swing frames matchday five in Serie A, set for Sunday, 20 September at 18:00. Both sides arrive with much smaller point totals than their standing would suggest.
Juventus have seven points and sit eighth in the Italian top flight. Atalanta have six and are down in 11th.
The table makes clear just how much ground has already been lost at the top. Roma and Inter both have 12 points, five more than the Bianconeri.
The Old Lady opened the season with two wins before stalling: a 1-1 draw with AC Milan, then a 3-2 defeat at Sassuolo. The winner there was scored by Vasilije Adzic, the young forward on loan from Juventus to the Emilian side.
The response came in Europe, with a ruthless 5-0 win over NEC Nijmegen in the Europa League. Nick Woltemade and Randal Kolo Muani, both short on rhythm in the league, were among the goals.
Atalanta arrive on the back of back-to-back defeats, 2-1 in Rome and then 1-2 at home to Cagliari. The timing is brutal for Maurizio Sarri, who returns to Turin in the worst spell of his early tenure.
The Tuscan coach knows the place well, having won the Italian title from that very dugout. His return to the Allianz Stadium carries extra weight.
This fixture also closes out both clubs’ schedules before the international break. The points won on Sunday could hang around for two weeks.

Juventus have picked up seven points from 12 in Serie A, with just one defeat to their name. Even so, they are still five points behind the two teams at the top.
The start was controlled, with a 0-1 win at Frosinone followed by a 2-0 home victory over Parma. Two clean-sheet wins to get the campaign up and running.
The draw with AC Milan then needed a late equaliser from the Bianconeri. The warning signs were already there before the trip to Sassuolo.
That visit to Emilia badly damaged Luciano Spalletti’s credit. Twice behind, Juventus hauled themselves level twice, only to be punished on the break in the final 15 minutes.
Home form, though, remains a real asset. Just one defeat in their last 10 matches at the Allianz Stadium.
The European win over NEC Nijmegen gave two struggling forwards a lift. Woltemade and Kolo Muani are now fighting for the central striking role on Sunday.
The injury list is still a mess: Kenan Yildiz, Khephren Thuram, Juan Cabal, Jeremie Boga, Jeff Ekhator and captain Manuel Locatelli are all out. Locatelli may not be back before spring.
Weston McKennie returned to action on Thursday and Lloyd Kelly is back from an UEFA ban. Andrea Cambiaso could also come back into the squad after an ankle issue.
Even so, the schedule leaves little room to breathe. Spalletti is expected to keep changes to a minimum on Sunday night.

Atalanta : two straight defeats and an away record that needs work 
Atalanta have lost their last two Serie A games after winning their first two. Six points from four matches and 11th place is not the sort of return a club of their size should be settling for.
The Bergamo start had looked decent enough, with a 2-1 win over Sassuolo and a 1-0 victory against Bologna. Six from six before the collapse.
The defeat in Rome left a mark, with two goals conceded in the closing minutes at the Stadio Olimpico. Cagliari piled on a week later in Bergamo, doing the same damage they had done five months earlier.
They have also moved through the Conference League play-offs without fuss. That European qualification remains the one clear bright spot of the season so far.
Away form is the real problem at the start of this campaign. Just three wins in the last 12 trips.
The odd part is the recent record against Juventus. Eight visits to Turin without defeat, with close to two goals scored per game across that stretch.
Up front, Nikola Krstovic and Gianluca Scamacca are fighting for the No 9 shirt. Giacomo Raspadori, a candidate to play off them, averages a goal every 96 minutes against Juventus in Serie A.
Gianluca Gaetano is back from suspension and available on Sunday. Only Isak Hien and Kamaldeen Sulemana will miss the trip through injury.
Hien’s absence strips the back line of its most reliable figure. Giorgio Scalvini and Odilon Kossounou are expected to form the central pairing.

Atalanta have three wins from their last 12 away games and arrive on the back of two defeats in a row. Their history at this ground does not come close to offsetting a run that poor.
Juventus, by contrast, found their finishing touch again against NEC Nijmegen and have lost only once in their last 10 home games. Spalletti also has to cope without Hien at centre-back, while his attack has scored only once across the last two league matches.
The Bianconeri get the three points on Sunday at the Allianz Stadium. The call is Juventus to win.
