Stade Rochelais vs Racing 92: eight straight wins on one side, 112 points shipped on the other
Stade Rochelais are riding an eight-match winning streak in the regular season of Top 14. That run was extended on 12 September by a hard-earned 21-20 win at Mayol.
Racing 92 arrive having conceded 112 points across two rounds. No other club in the league comes close to that mess, and the Paris outfit sit bottom for good reason.
La Rochelle are third with eight points on the board after beating four-time champions Toulouse on opening day. The Maritimes have still not lost this season.
Kick-off is set for Saturday 19 September at 16:35 at Stade Marcel-Deflandre. Canal+ and Canal+ Live will show the match.
The Paris backdrop makes things even trickier. With their own ground unavailable until May, Racing keep moving home games around and staged their first match of the season in Creteil.
Ronan O’Gara, meanwhile, has signed on at La Rochelle until 2031. The club tied down their Irish boss at the exact moment his team started stacking up wins.
Stade Rochelais: Toulouse beaten, Toulon turned over, no slip-ups
La Rochelle opened their season with a 30-27 win over Stade Toulousain at Marcel-Deflandre. The four-time French champions left Charente-Maritime empty-handed for the second year in a row.
The trip to Mayol produced a far scrappier contest, but La Rochelle still came out 21-20 winners. Handling errors and missed kicks dominated a game the hosts could have killed off much earlier.
That is what nags at La Rochelle a little: the final quarter in Toulon was messy, with clear chances left on the table. Winning by one point when you had the ball to win by 10 always leaves a strange taste.
Still, the numbers look strong, with 51 points scored and 47 conceded. La Rochelle’s defence has not buckled against two top-end attacks.
Ronan O’Gara’s extension to 2031 locks in a project that began in 2019. The Irish coach has not left Charente-Maritime since he arrived.
Marcel-Deflandre is the natural place to make it three from three. The schedule has handed them a clear opening before the international break.

Racing 92: ten tries conceded in Bordeaux, eight in Creteil
Racing 92 endured the worst opening round in Top 14, hammered 64-5 at Chaban-Delmas. UBB were already 38-0 up at half-time, with six tries to none.
Four Bordeaux tries came in the first 15 minutes, including a Woki double. At the break, Max Machenaud summed up the carnage with a line that did the rounds: “We are making schoolboy mistakes.”
Racing’s only try of the day came from Seru Uru in the 64th minute, and it went unconverted. The Australian recruit had already had one try ruled out by the video, after losing the ball over the line.
The following week changed nothing. Shifted to Creteil, Racing shipped eight tries to four against LOU and lost 31-48.
Jiuta Wainiqolo posted a double and an assist on a bleak Paris-region night. Racing have scored 36 points across two games, which is not really the issue.
Patrice Collazo, though, is refusing to panic and is pointing to his squad’s intensity data. The table only cares about one thing: 14th place and zero points.

Rugby prediction Stade Rochelais vs Racing 92
Our prediction: Stade Rochelais -12.5 handicap
Racing have conceded 18 tries in two matches, including 10 on a single trip to Bordeaux. A defence leaking at that rate is not surviving 80 minutes at Marcel-Deflandre.
La Rochelle are on an eight-game winning run in the regular season and beat Toulouse at home two weeks ago. The gap between the sides is simply too wide for the result alone to be the angle.
The Maritimes win by at least 13 points.

First, a word on our free tips
- What we publish on mathodds is analysis, nothing more. We are sharing an opinion, a read on the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport is what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a freak goal… and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing really is. And yes, that means you can lose. In fact, you will at some point.
- The best approach is to stay sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Do not touch money you need to live. And above all: do not chase losses, it rarely ends well.
- A bet should stay a game, not a job or a source of income. If you feel it is taking up too much of your day, making you angry or putting you under pressure, take a break. And if needed, speak to a specialist support service. That is what it is there for.
- In the end, responsibility is yours. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, even with the best analysis in the world.
- Essential reminder: betting is forbidden to minors and must follow the law in your country. Gambling can spin out fast (money losses, family tension, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.
No commitment from us
Our predictions are not a contract. They carry no legal force. In plain terms: you cannot use them to demand anything if a bet fails.
Information can change
A prediction always reflects what we know when it is written. But in the meantime, a team sheet changes (like Racing’s in this case), a player gets hurt, the weather turns… and the analysis can quickly be out of date. We cannot be held responsible for that.
Your role
Before you bet, make sure betting is legal where you live. If it is not, that is your responsibility, not ours.
