Fulham have only one point after four Premier League games. No club in the division has done worse, apart from Coventry City, who are still on zero.
Manchester United have four and sit 13th, with seven goals scored and seven conceded. The two sides meet at Craven Cottage on Sunday, September 20 at 17:30 Paris time.
The table leaves the Cottagers in 18th, in the drop zone. They have scored only four goals, the second-lowest total in the league behind Tottenham.
Their home record is even starker: two matches, two defeats. Craven Cottage has brought them nothing so far this season.
Manchester United are coming off a 1-0 derby defeat at Old Trafford against Manchester City, decided by an Erling Braut Haaland strike in the 63rd minute. Michael Carrick’s side couldn’t find a way through a well-drilled opponent.
The week before, the Red Devils had thrown away a 2-2 draw at Goodison Park in brutal fashion. Bryan Mbeumo had put them ahead straight after the break, Benjamin Šeško restored the lead in the 88th minute.
Ameen Maitland-Niles equalised for Everton in the 96th minute. Two points gone, and they look costly now.
The common thread for both sides is their inability to see games out. Fulham led Crystal Palace 2-1 before losing 3-2, while United led twice at Everton and still didn’t win.
Fulham’s only point came from a 0-0 scrap at Anfield last time out. That result showed they can shut teams out when they sit deep and stop trying to be clever.

Both games at Craven Cottage have ended in defeat. That stands in sharp contrast to the point they took at Anfield and raises questions about how they approach games in front of their own fans.
The 3-2 loss to Crystal Palace summed it up. Joshua King and then Palacios had put the hosts ahead before Tyrick Mitchell, with a double in the 35th and 54th minutes, and Ben Chilwell in the 77th turned it around.
Three goals conceded in one home game, two of them from an opposition full-back, point to a problem down the flanks. Their defensive numbers away from home, where they stay more compact, back that up.
Joshua King remains the standout in the squad with two goals from 11 shots, five on target. Gonzalo García has also scored this season.
Out wide, Timothy Castagne and Antonee Robinson keep feeding the channels. But all those crosses are not turning into clear chances in the middle.
Tom Cairney is out with a knee injury. Ryan Sessegnon remains a doubt because of a groin, hip and pelvis issue.
The key question is whether the hosts can reproduce the shape they showed at Anfield. Without Cairney to knit the play together, that job gets a lot harder.
Another poor result against Manchester United and the Cottagers could be in serious trouble by the end of September. The heat is on them first.

That stoppage-time collapse says plenty about the main flaw in this side. Leading in the 88th minute and still only taking a point isn’t bad luck, it’s basic game management.
Bruno Fernandes is the most decisive player in the squad with three goals and nine chances created. Nobody else is close to that level of influence in attack.
Bryan Mbeumo has added two goals, including the early second-half equaliser at Everton. Matheus Cunha and Kobbie Mainoo link the lines.
No fresh injury issues have been reported ahead of this trip. That gives United a cleaner bill of health than several direct rivals.
The derby defeat to Manchester City showed a team that couldn’t break down a set defence. Craven Cottage is a different test, with the home side likely to take risks as they try to crawl away from the danger zone.
That should open spaces for Fernandes and Mbeumo to attack. Šeško, who scored at Everton, also suits quick transitions.
The visitors’ edge lies in their attacking depth. Against a defence that has already shipped seven goals in four matches, Manchester United have enough options to hurt them.
