Andre Jordan Jr. had never picked off a pass in his career. He grabbed two of them tonight.
The first came on the opening snap of the game. The cornerback jumped in front of Mario Sanders on an Ethan Hampton throw and returned it 34 yards. Auburn was ahead before it had even run an offensive play.
The rest followed the same script. 43-8 against Southern Miss, in a stadium that had already sat through a two-hour lightning delay before kickoff.

Byrum Brown threw it, ran it and caught it
The Auburn quarterback completed 18 of 29 passes for 226 yards. Two touchdowns: a 22-yard strike to Jonathen Echols in the first quarter, then an eight-yard catch for DeShawn Spencer in the second on a diving grab.
He also ran for 88 yards on 13 carries. And he scored as a receiver.
At 9:56 of the third quarter, on fourth down, Christian Neptune handed it back to him on a reverse pass. Brown dived in from five yards out. 34-8.
Auburn finished with 343 rushing yards and 613 yards overall. It took that to cover up 10 penalties. Omar Mabson II posted a career-high 108 rushing yards and a two-yard touchdown. Alex McPherson hit two field goals, including a 55-yarder right before the break, the longest of his career.
Southern Miss shot itself in the foot
Eleven penalties for the Golden Eagles. Four false starts in the first quarter alone.
Hampton still completed 18 of 27 passes, but for only 146 yards. Steven Robinson scored the only touchdown for his side. Auburn answered with a field goal before halftime.
The Tigers also scored on a safety, with Cody Sigler sacking Hampton and forcing an intentional grounding call.
Southern Miss drops to 1-1. The last time the program beat Auburn was in 1991. Nothing about this one suggests that wait is ending any time soon.
Auburn moves to 2-0 after edging Baylor by a point in its opener. This time, the margin was far more comfortable.
