Burnley confirm Vardy return
Burnley announced the signing of Jamie Vardy on Sunday. The English striker has agreed a deal until the end of the current season. He had been without a club since the summer.
The Championship club posted the news on its official account in the afternoon. “Burnley Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of experienced striker Jamie Vardy until the end of the current season,” the Clarets said. The statement leans on three selling points: pace, finishing and work rate. Turf Moor now gets a 39-year-old who has nothing left to prove in England.

An English career like no other
Vardy, first and foremost, means Leicester. More than 190 goals in a Foxes shirt. A Premier League title in 2016, in one of the most unlikely seasons the division has ever seen. He left after more than a decade of service.
Last season, he took an unexpected route. Off to Serie A and Cremonese, at an age when most strikers are winding down. The Italian spell ended when his contract ran out. He had been looking for a new home for several weeks.
What Burnley expect from him
The Clarets were after attacking reinforcements to give their Championship campaign a lift. Vardy fits the bill. He knows the division, he knows the pressure at the top end of the table, and he arrives with a profile that carries weight in a dressing room. The deal runs until the end of the season, so there is precious little time to settle in.
