A free agent on the Burgundy club’s radar
No fee, no selling club, no negotiation with anyone but the player. That is why Axel Tuanzebe is on AJ Auxerre’s list with the window hours from closing.
Le Parisien, relayed by Foot Mercato, reports the Burgundy side are in talks with the 28-year-old centre-back, who has been out of contract since the summer.
Those talks are said to be well advanced. Nothing signed.
Try it for $0.99.
A career built in England
Tuanzebe came through at Manchester United, then played for Aston Villa and Ipswich Town.
He is a DR Congo international, and he would bring Auxerre a level of Premier League and Championship experience that almost nobody else still on the market can match at this point.
It is exactly the profile mid-table French clubs hunt for every September. Battle-hardened, free, ready to play.
Auxerre are working several angles at once
The Burgundy club are not banking on one name. Foot Mercato reported on Monday that AJA also hold a strong interest in Zakaria Aboukhlal.
The window shuts Tuesday night. Auxerre have a few hours left for anything involving a transfer fee, though a free agent like Tuanzebe can still be signed after the deadline passes.
