35 million euros for a goalkeeper not yet 19
The number jumps out. According to Het Laatste Nieuws, relayed by Foot Mercato, Liverpool have an agreement with Genk for Lucca Brughmans. Around 33 million euros, plus 2 million in add-ons.
Brughmans is 18. The Belgian goalkeeper would sign through June 2031, with an option running to June 2032. Six seasons, maybe seven.
Details remain to be sorted. He could finish the season in the Premier League.

Genk set to break their own record, again
The deal would be club history for the Belgian side. Genk have never sold anyone for that much, and their previous record only dates to early August, when Konstantinos Karetsas left for Borussia Dortmund.
Two sale records inside a month tells you where Genk sit in the market for young players. They develop, they put them in the shop window, they sell. That is the model, and it keeps working.
Thirty-five million for an 18-year-old keeper remains a rare fee whoever is paying it. Goalkeepers usually cash in much later, once the minutes have piled up at the top level.
A summer spend of more than 230 million at Liverpool
The Reds have not held back. Foot Mercato already puts their outlay past 230 million euros this summer, covering Bradley Barcola from PSG, Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes, Victor Munoz from Osasuna, Ifeanyi Ndukwe from Austria Vienna and Ronald Araujo from FC Barcelona.
They are not finished. The Djylian N’Guessan file with Saint-Etienne is still said to be alive. Liverpool are building this squad from the bottom of the age curve upwards, at prices once reserved for finished products.
