Barcelona vs Rayo Vallecano : 5-0 at Elche, and a Rayo side already a point off 
Barcelona have made a flying start to the season with two wins from two. After that 5-0 hammering of Elche, Barca beat Athletic Bilbao 2-0 on Thursday 27 August thanks to goals from Raphinha and Fermin Lopez.
Rayo Vallecano, by contrast, have managed just one point from their opening two games. The Madrid club sit 14th with two goals scored and three conceded.
The two sides meet on Monday 31 August at 21h30 at Spotify Camp Nou to close out round three. Barcelona come in with six points on the board and a perfect run, while Rayo are still hunting their first win.
The head-to-head is heavily one-sided, with 17 Catalan wins to Rayo’s three, plus three draws. That imbalance has rarely been challenged at Camp Nou.
Barcelona begin the campaign with one clear aim: a third straight league title. The demolition job at Elche set the tone.
The club also made a statement in the market, confirming the arrival of Rodri on 18 August 2026 for 65.4 million pounds from Manchester City. The Spain midfielder adds even more strength to an already stacked squad.
Rayo travel with a full squad, with no players ruled out. That is about the only thing in their favour in this one.
So the real question is not who wins, but by how much. That is where the prediction comes in.
Barcelona : five goals, four scorers and a battered back line 
The 5-0 win at Elche was built on four different scorers in front of 30 704 fans. Raphinha opened from the spot in the 15th minute, then struck again in the 67th.
Karim Adeyemi added the third in first-half stoppage time, scoring in the 45e+4. Lopez then bagged a brace in the 71st and 79th minutes.
Seven goals scored and none conceded in two matches: Barcelona have started the season as one of the sharpest sides in the league.
Raphinha remains the main attacking reference point, with both of his goals coming in that game. His penalty-taking adds another layer of threat.
The problem area is at the back, where four players are unavailable. Andreas Christensen, Jules Kounde and Alejandro Balde are all missing.
Frenkie de Jong is also out, which hits the midfield this time. Marc Bernal and Pedri are expected to join Fermin Lopez in the middle.
Joan Garcia keeps goal, behind a reshuffled defence built around Pau Cubarsi. Joao Cancelo should take the right flank despite the shortage of options.
Up front, Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres and Raphinha form a trio that can rip teams apart between the lines. Against a defence that has already shipped three, the damage potential is obvious for Barcelona.
The main concern now is fatigue after a hectic early-season schedule. But at home, and with two wins already in the bag, Barcelona still have a huge edge over Rayo.

Rayo Vallecano : one point from two games and a shaky defence 
Rayo began with a 2-1 defeat in Seville on 15 August in front of 36 777 spectators. Isi Palazon had put them ahead in the 32nd minute.
Seville turned it around with two penalties, scored by Guridi in the 52nd minute and Fernandez in the 90e+6. Rayo ended up throwing away two points deep into stoppage time.
Their second match brought a 1-1 draw at home to Alaves on 20 August in front of just 4 280 fans. Sergio Camello scored first in the 48th minute before Diaz levelled it in the 84th.
One point from six, two goals scored and three conceded: that leaves Rayo 14th. They have led in both games and failed to turn either into a win.
That repeated pattern points to a problem seeing games out. The Madrid side have conceded all three goals after the 50th minute.
The one plus is the squad, with no one ruled out for the trip. Inigo Perez at least has every option available.
Up front, Jorge de Frutos and Camello remain the main danger. Palazon brings the finishing touch on second balls.
At the back, the Lejeune-Ciss centre-half pairing will have its hands full against a front three that scored five in one night. That is a very different test from the one they faced against Alaves.
The overall record does not exactly scream optimism either, with Rayo winning just three of 23 meetings with Barcelona. The Catalans have 17 wins, with three draws.
The trip to Camp Nou therefore comes at the worst possible time. Rayo will need to defend for far longer than they managed in their first two outings.
Their single point from two games also leaves little room for tactical flexibility. Going too cautious would only invite the same late collapse they suffered in Seville.

Rayo have conceded three goals in two matches, all after the 50th minute. Their game management has already cost them five points from six.
Barcelona’s absences are in defence and midfield, not in attack. Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres and Raphinha will all be available on Monday.
Barcelona remain the clear favourites at home. With two wins, seven goals scored and none conceded, they have already done enough this season to back a victory by at least two goals.
