Hibernian vs La Gantoise: 0-0 in the first leg, it all comes down to Easter Road 
The first leg finished goalless at Planet Group Arena on 20 August. Hibernian came back from Belgium with a clean sheet and now have home advantage for the tie-decider.
The return leg is on Thursday 27 August at Easter Road, with kick-off at 20:00 local Scottish time. Spaniard Juan Martínez Munuera is the referee.
But the first meeting also calls for a bit of caution. La Gantoise posted the attacking numbers, hitting the target with 10 attempts to Hibernian’s two, yet never turned that control into a goal.
Hibernian head into this one unbeaten in six and with two wins from two European home games this season. David Gray’s side have never made the league phase of this competition.
La Gantoise, meanwhile, are still unbeaten in 2026-27, with three wins and four draws. The concern is elsewhere: three defeats in their last six European away trips.
Hibernian: Easter Road as the main card 
Hibernian’s European campaign started in the worst possible way, with a 2-0 defeat to FC Malisheva in the first leg of the second qualifying round. The return at Easter Road changed everything: 4-1 on the night and a 4-3 aggregate win.
That turnaround tells you plenty about what this ground means to the club. Their two Conference League home games this season have both ended in victory.
Their league season began slowly enough, with a 2-1 defeat to Motherwell on the opening day of the Premiership. Since then, David Gray’s men have not lost in six outings.
That run has real weight: Shkendija were sent packing 2-1 on aggregate in the third qualifying round, Partick Thistle were beaten 1-0 in the League Cup and, most notably, Rangers were beaten 2-1 at Ibrox.
Rocky Bushiri is out with an Achilles injury, but the rest of the squad is available. Owen Elding, Nathan Lowe and Martin Boyle have looked sharp together since the restart and should form the front three.

La Gantoise: unbeaten, but still suspect on European trips 
La Gantoise have yet to lose this season, with three wins and four draws in all competitions. But that record hides a more awkward truth: four draws from seven games points to a side that struggles to put teams away.
Their qualifying run showed exactly that. LNZ Cherkasy were only edged out on penalties after two 0-0s, then Gothenburg were knocked aside by a narrow 2-1.
The Belgian league has offered a sharper edge. The Buffalos won their first two league games, scoring four and conceding one.
The stat that will bother Rik De Mil is the European away record: three defeats in their last six continental road trips. Easter Road, with the crowd breathing down their necks, is hardly the place to fix that.
Matisse Samoise is ruled out until October and Abdul Ayinde remains a doubt for this trip to Hibernian. After a blank first leg, De Mil could freshen up his attack, with Kyrell Wilson and Ibrahima Cisse tipped to start.
