A second bid is being lined up
Liverpool aren’t done with Yankuba Minteh. The Daily Mail reported on Saturday that the Reds are preparing a fresh bid for the Brighton winger.
The first one was knocked back. It was worth 58 million euros. Brighton didn’t budge.
The Merseyside club now has to go higher. Nothing is settled yet, and for now this is still just a report from the English press, not the clubs themselves.

A backup plan that has become a priority
Minteh wasn’t the first choice. Liverpool had targeted Ibrahim Mbaye at PSG. Paris’ asking price was judged too steep, so the deal was parked.
The Reds are still talking to Paris about Bradley Barcola. The English club want to land two attacking signings after Mohamed Salah’s departure.
The 22-year-old Gambian ticks plenty of boxes. Brighton bought him from Newcastle for 35 million euros in 2024. Since then, he has scored 10 goals and provided 9 assists in 73 matches for the Seagulls. Used mainly on the right, he can also play on the left.
Signing a player who won’t be back until October
And that’s the catch. Minteh picked up an injury in a warm-up game against Roma. He had surgery on his right leg. A return before October is not expected.
Liverpool are said to be willing to push on anyway. Paying more than 58 million euros for a player ruled out for two months is a clear bet on the second half of the season.
Brighton, for its part, isn’t in any rush to sell. The club has a habit of sticking to its price and letting the bidding climb right up to the last day of the window.
