Thirty years old, no club, and a market closing fast
Anthony Martial is out of work. Foot Mercato reports this morning in an Exclu FM item that the French forward is still looking for a new home, with less than two weeks left before the summer transfer window shuts.
Time is not on his side. Squads are set, budgets are tight.
His last deal ended by mutual consent at the start of the summer with Rayados de Monterrey. The Mexican stint boils down to one line: one goal in 20 appearances. His reported salary of 3.5 M€ a year quickly drew criticism there. Before Mexico, he had a brief spell at AEK Athens.

Eleven years on from the Golden Boy
The contrast is stark. In 2015, Monaco sold Martial to Manchester United and the Frenchman became, at 19, the most expensive teenager in football history. The Golden Boy award, handed out each year to Europe’s best young player, soon followed.
Since 2020, the line has only gone one way: down. Loans, injuries, seasons with no clear rhythm. Foot Mercato calls it a sporting free fall, and the numbers from the past three years back that up.
Ligue 1 has cooled off
Martial wants a return to France. His camp has put his name on several desks at clubs across the country. According to Foot Mercato, OGC Nice had not ruled it out in June. That track has since gone cold.
The sticking point is clear: his wage demands, seen as out of step with his output. No French club has made a concrete offer at this stage.
He is keeping himself fit. For now, he is looking farther afield and will have to lower his demands. A return to Europe is fading unless a club takes a late gamble in the closing hours of the market. Paul Pogba, released by Monaco yesterday, is waiting in the same room.
