The trade rumors are dead. Denzel Ward signed a two-year, $62.2 million extension with the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday, a deal that makes him the highest-paid defensive back in the NFL. It runs through 2029 and carries $52.3 million guaranteed.

At $31.1 million per year in new money, Ward vaults past the field at his position. The five-time Pro Bowler spent the offseason making clear he wanted to stay in Cleveland. The Browns just made sure he does.
