Midtjylland vs Beşiktaş : it is still wide open in Denmark 
The trip to Istanbul did not go Midtjylland’s way, but the Danish club is still alive in this tie. Beaten 1-0 after spending more than 75 minutes with 10 men, the Wolves kept the damage to a minimum and still have every chance going into the second leg.

Their response in the league a few days later was another encouraging sign. Trailing in an open game against Sonderjyske, Midtjylland fought back to win 3-2 and showed their attacking threat is still very much alive despite the defeat in Turkey.
Backed by their own fans, Mike Tullberg’s side should be far more aggressive this time. Franculino Dju and Cho Gue-sung will be key if they are to unsettle a Turkish defence that is likely to face a lot more pressure than it did in Istanbul.
Beşiktaş must protect their lead
The first game delivered a winning start for Vincenzo Italiano on the official stage. His side made the most of their numerical advantage while staying disciplined at the back to take a narrow lead into this trip.
The Istanbul club has enough experience to handle nights like this, but it also knows that a one-goal cushion is far from secure. Orkun Kökçü will again be expected to run the show, while Vaclav Cerny brings the drive and direct running out wide.
Beşiktaş are likely to be a bit more cautious than they were in Istanbul. The Turks will probably sit back, wait for their opponents to come at them and then try to hit on the break, which could make for a frantic contest.

Midtjylland also sent out a positive signal by winning their opening league game a few days after that defeat. It should help the squad rebuild confidence before a match in which they need to set the pace early and make Beşiktaş doubt themselves.
