NFL: Ramsey lands on PUP list with knee injury

A setback before camp

The Steelers are moving on without their defensive star for now. Pittsburgh has placed Jalen Ramsey on the PUP list after a knee injury suffered before training camp. General manager Omar Khan tried to calm nerves on Tuesday. No surgery, and a return is expected within two weeks.

The eight-time Pro Bowler remains a key piece of the back end. Brought in last summer in the deal that sent Minkah Fitzpatrick to Miami, he piled up 88 tackles, three sacks and one interception in 17 games in his new colours.

A defender with a rare resume

The fifth pick in the 2016 draft, Ramsey has built a body of work most cornerbacks can only dream of. In 152 games with Jacksonville, the Rams, Miami and Pittsburgh, he has 622 tackles and 25 interceptions. At 31, the mileage is starting to show, but Khan says his work ethic remains as strong as ever.

It was not all bad news on the day. Tackle Broderick Jones, who suffered a neck injury in 2025, has been cleared to return to training. Cornerback Donte Kent is also heading to PUP.
