Ohio State signs record $17m college jersey deal

$17 million a year for a shirt sponsor

Ohio State announced on Tuesday a jersey partnership with JPMorganChase. The figure is eye-watering. US reports say the deal is worth $17 million a year. That would be a record for this kind of agreement in college sports.

The Chase logo will appear on the jerseys of all 36 Buckeyes teams. The deal also covers stadium signage and academic links across the university.

The Big Ten is thinking bigger

Athletic director Ross Bjork described a global brand with deep roots in Ohio. The school did not confirm the figure. Several outlets also say the contract opens up NIL opportunities for players.

Ohio State becomes the fourth Big Ten program to strike this sort of deal. Illinois, Michigan State and Wisconsin got there first. Illinois’ agreement with Busey Bank is worth around $6 million a year. Ohio State has blown past that mark.
