Portland Timbers vs Real Salt Lake : a clash that could well turn into a proper show 
Portland head back to Providence Park with a little more belief after taking four points from their last two outings. The Timbers are slowly finding their feet again since the coaching change, even if the table still makes for uneasy reading.
Real Salt Lake arrive in Oregon looking to cement their spot near the top of the Western Conference. Beaten by Los Angeles FC in midweek, Pablo Mastroeni’s side will be keen to bounce back quickly in a match that should be wide open.
Portland are finding some bite in attack again 
The Timbers have looked a far more dangerous side over the last few games. After taking care of Seattle, they showed real steel to claw back from two goals down against Dallas. That refusal to fold says plenty about the mood around the club right now.
Kevin Kelsy sums it up perfectly. The striker has three goals in his last two appearances and has quickly become Portland’s main attacking outlet. With Antony supplying the service, chances are no longer hard to find.
The issue, though, is still at the back. Portland keep shipping goals, even at home, where only one league match has finished with a clean sheet this season. That sort of wobble usually leads to games with a bit of life in them.
Real Salt Lake have plenty going forward too 
Results away from home have been up and down, but Real Salt Lake keep playing with intent. Pablo Mastroeni’s team sit high in the standings because they can hurt most opponents.
Diego Luna remains the man most likely to tip this one in Salt Lake’s favour, thanks to his creativity between the lines. Around him, Solans’ movement and the wing-backs pushing on give them enough thrust to create several good chances in a match.
The win over Portland earlier this season will give the visitors confidence. They also know Providence Park is rarely an easy trip, especially against a side that is starting to look a bit sharper.
