Urs Fischer’s effect is obvious. Since he arrived in December Mainz have flipped the script. They just booked a place in the Conference League quarter-finals after beating Sigma Olomouc 2-0, and they’re on a six-match unbeaten run in all competitions.
Their strongest trait? They simply refuse to lose at home. Unbeaten at the MEWA Arena in 2026 — five wins and three draws — they’ve turned it into a proper fortress. With only a three-point cushion over St Pauli, Mainz must set the tone early, press hard and bury the chances that will make Frankfurt bend.
Eintracht struggle on the road 
Albert Riera’s arrival in late January snapped something loose. The former Liverpool winger steadied the ship, ended a nasty losing streak and pushed Eintracht back into the European conversation — they’re seven points off Leverkusen.
