This Sunday at lunchtime the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia serves up a clash of extremes in Serie A. Como are flying and look a genuine Champions League threat. Pisa, meanwhile, are scrapping tooth and nail just to stay in the top flight.
Como in steamroller mode 
They’re simply the hottest team in Italy right now. Under Cesc Fàbregas, the Lariani have been a joy to watch. Fresh off a 2-1 scalp of Roma, they’ve rattled off four straight league wins and even toppled Juventus on the way. Sitting in the right pack, they’ve got their eyes on a Champions League spot.
Their attack is humming and goals come easily. Small caveat: the defense can switch off — they’ve conceded in five of their last six. Still, winning covers a lot of sins in Lombardy. To avoid a shock this weekend against a team near the foot of the table, they’ll need to grab the tempo from minute one.
Pisa desperate to escape the nightmare 
The visitors finally showed a pulse. After a brutal 17-game winless run — four months of misery — the Nerazzurri snapped it with a 3-1 win at Cagliari. Even more impressive since they played with ten men from the 37th minute. Captain Antonio Caracciolo’s brace saved the day, but Pisa are still deep in trouble: nine points from safety.
The big headache for coach Oscar Hiljemark is away form. Pisa haven’t won on the road this season (eight draws, six defeats). Worse, their defense leaks — 31 goals conceded away from home. If they arrive buoyant, they’ll probably need to sit in and survive the home onslaught, then try to nick something on the break. Their only realistic plan is to lean on a surprisingly sharp away attack and pounce on counters.
