Heerenveen vs Feyenoord: the league’s best clean-sheet record against a leader with one win in five Eredivisie

Heerenveen have kept five clean sheets in the Eredivisie this season, more than any other side. Only Twente and Feyenoord have conceded fewer goals.

Feyenoord come to the Abe Lenstra Stadion on Sunday 8 November, kick-off 11:15 UK time, as the only unbeaten team in the division. Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side are top on 25 points from 11 games, one ahead of Ajax, with 33 scored and 12 conceded.

The recent form doesn’t match the table. Feyenoord have won one of their last five matches in all competitions: a 4-3 win at Telstar, then a 1-0 defeat at Real Betis, 1-1 at PSV, 1-1 at home to Fortuna Sittard and a 3-0 home defeat to Inter on Tuesday night.

Heerenveen have gone the other way. Robin Veldman’s side have won four straight in all competitions, beating Excelsior 4-0, ADO Den Haag 3-2 away, Excelsior Maassluis 2-0 in the cup and NEC 1-0 last Saturday.

They’re seventh on 18 points, seven behind Feyenoord, and they’ve given Feyenoord problems lately. Heerenveen won 2-0 at home in May 2025, drew 2-2 at home in January 2026 and knocked them out of last season’s KNVB Cup 3-2.

I’d want a lot more from Feyenoord than a draw at home to Fortuna Sittard before trusting them at 1.73 here.

Heerenveen: four straight wins and a clean bill of health Heerenveen

Dylan Vente scored the only goal against NEC on 31 October, his third in four games. He has five direct goal contributions this season, and that win was Heerenveen’s fourth in a row in all competitions.

Jacob Trenskow is the other threat. He had five goals and two assists in the five games before the NEC match, and he scored the 90th-minute winner when Heerenveen knocked Feyenoord out of the cup last season.

The league record is five wins, three draws and three defeats, with 19 scored and 13 conceded. At home it’s three wins, a draw and two defeats, eight goals in six games, and losses to PEC Zwolle and AZ.

Those home defeats came in August and early September. Since then Heerenveen have beaten Excelsior 4-0 and NEC 1-0 at the Abe Lenstra, and won 4-0 at Sparta and 3-2 at ADO on the road.

Veldman has nobody injured. Levi Smans is back from injury and set up a goal against NEC.

Feyenoord: unbeaten in the league, but one win in five and six players missing Feyenoord

Inter scored three at De Kuip on Tuesday through Bisseck after eight minutes, Pio Esposito around the 35th minute and Zielinski on 54. Feyenoord have one win and three defeats from four Champions League games, and they lost 5-1 in Barcelona in September.

The league side was flying until mid-October. Feyenoord beat PEC Zwolle 7-0, Utrecht 5-0 and AZ 2-0, but they’ve dropped four points in their last two league games, 1-1 at PSV and 1-1 at home to Fortuna Sittard.

The injury list is long. Jordan Bos, Jakub Moder and Bart Nieuwkoop have knee problems, Gijs Smal is out with an ankle injury, and Thomas Beelen and Jeremiah St. Juste are also missing. Watanabe started on the bench against Inter because he wasn’t fully fit.

Anis Hadj Moussa carries the attack. He had six goals and an assist in nine Eredivisie games by late October, scored at PSV, and was the league’s Player of the Month for September.

Away from home, Feyenoord haven’t won on their last two league visits to Heerenveen. Van Bronckhorst, back at the club since June after Robin van Persie was sacked, has had five days to lift a squad that didn’t score against Inter.

Probable lineup Heerenveen: Klaverboer; Braude, Kersten, Willemsen, Zagaritis; Linday, Courtens; Trenskow, Smans, Rivera; Vente
Probable lineup Feyenoord: Ernst; Lopez, Marmol, Watanabe, Read; Targhalline, Vanhoutte, Zechiel; Valente, Ferri, Hadj Moussa

Free Football Prediction: Heerenveen vs Feyenoord

Our prediction: Heerenveen or draw, double chance (odds 2.05)

Feyenoord are priced at 1.73 as if they were still the side that beat Utrecht 5-0. They’ve won one of five since, they’ve conceded in each of their last five games, and six players are out.

Heerenveen have won four straight, have the most clean sheets in the league, and haven’t lost at home to Feyenoord in their last two league meetings at the Abe Lenstra. Trenskow and Vente are both scoring.

Feyenoord’s 33 league goals are the reason this isn’t a home-win pick. But at 2.05, Heerenveen avoiding defeat is the better side of this price, and that’s where I’d be.

About our free predictions

  • What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
  • Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
  • The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses: that rarely ends well.
  • A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
  • Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
  • Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.

No commitment from us

Information changes

A prediction is always based on what we know at the time of writing. But between publication and kick-off, a lineup can change, a player picks up an injury, the weather turns, and the analysis can quickly be outdated. We cannot be held responsible for that.
