Perth Wildcats vs Cairns Taipans: two slumps, one RAC Arena
The Perth Wildcats host the Cairns Taipans at RAC Arena on Sunday 8 November, with tip-off at 7h00 Paris time. Perth are 5-5 and seventh on the ladder, while Cairns are 6-6 and fifth.
This is a Round 8 fixture in NBL27, and both teams arrive on the wrong end of recent results. Perth have lost four of their last five, and Cairns have lost two straight.
Perth fell 109-104 at Brisbane on Wednesday after losing 105-98 at home to Illawarra and 99-91 to Sydney before that. Cairns lost 107-95 at home to Illawarra on Thursday.
Something has to give, and the table says Perth are the better home bet. They are the team that has already shown it can beat the best, with a 103-102 win over Melbourne United.
GoBet tips the Wildcats to win by five. No earlier meeting between these clubs this season appears in the sources we checked.
Injuries shape the picture on both benches, and neither side is at full strength. Depth will matter more than form in this one.
Perth Wildcats Analysis
Perth sit seventh at 5-5, with a recent form line of L-W-L-L-L. The four losses in five games have pushed them out of the top six.
They score 94.3 points per game and concede 97.9, giving a -36 differential. The defence has been the problem, giving up 99, 98 and 109 in three of the last four.
The win over Melbourne United proves the group can compete with the best. That 103-102 result is the standard Perth need to return to at home.
Kristian Doolittle, Elijah Pepper and Dylan Windler are the names carrying the roster. All three will need to deliver against a Cairns defence that has also leaked points.
Brandon Knight is listed with soreness and Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. has a calf injury. Blake Nielsen is out for the season with an ACL injury, and Jimmy Whitt is away for personal reasons.
That is four names on the injury list. Perth still have the home court, and RAC Arena is where they need to start winning again.

Cairns Taipans Analysis
Cairns sit fifth at 6-6, with a recent form line of L-W-W-L-L. The Taipans have lost two straight after a strong 107-85 win over Brisbane.
They score 92.4 points per game and concede 97.4, which explains a -60 differential. That is the worst figure in this fixture.
The last two results show a team that is up and down. They lost 113-97 at Melbourne and 107-95 at home to Illawarra, giving up more than 100 points twice.
Jack McVeigh and Keanu Pinder are the key names, with McVeigh scoring 19 and Pinder 16 against Melbourne United in an earlier game. Jaylon Brown adds scoring from the perimeter.
Walter Brown is out with an ankle injury, Sunday Dech is listed as a hamstring test, and Jaylin Galloway is out with a back injury. Dech’s status is the one to watch before tip-off.
Cairns also travel across the country after a game on Thursday. That schedule is the decisive disadvantage against a home side on a longer break.

Free NBL Prediction: Perth Wildcats vs Cairns Taipans
Our prediction: Perth Wildcats win
Perth have the home court and a better differential than Cairns have. They also have the better rest schedule, with no game on Thursday.
The Taipans give up too many points, with 113 and 107 in their last two. Perth’s 103-102 win over Melbourne United shows the ceiling is there.
Cairns keep it close with McVeigh and Pinder. Perth win the fourth quarter at home and end the slide.

About our free predictions
- What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute basket, and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
- The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses, that rarely ends well.
- A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation, that’s what they’re there for.
- Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
- Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.
No commitment from us
Our predictions carry no contractual value. They have no legal standing. In short: you cannot rely on them to claim anything if a bet doesn’t come through.
Information changes
A prediction is always based on what we know at the time of writing. But between publication and tip-off, a lineup can change (like the Perth Wildcats’, for example), a player picks up an injury, and the analysis can quickly be outdated. We cannot be held responsible for that.
Your responsibility
Before placing a bet, simply check that gambling is legal in your country. If it isn’t, that’s your responsibility, not ours.
