Gauthier keeps finding the net
Cutter Gauthier did it again. The 22-year-old scored three times in Vancouver on Tuesday, his second consecutive hat trick, as the Anaheim Ducks held on for a 5-4 win over the Canucks.
Two of the goals came on the power play, both one-timers from the left circle, at 17:07 of the first period and 18:25 of the second. The third came 4:11 into the third, a wrist shot off a rush that made it 5-2. It is his third career NHL hat trick, and the back-to-back pair is a Ducks franchise first.

The numbers behind the run
Gauthier now has eight goals in three games, six of them with the man advantage. He is the first player in the league with multiple power-play goals in three straight games, and Anaheim has converted 10 of 12 chances on the power play over that stretch.
He had help. Mikael Granlund scored and added two assists, Beckett Sennecke picked up four assists, and Leo Carlsson struck short-handed on a 2-on-1 to make it 3-1. Laurent Brossoit made 19 saves in his second straight start.
Vancouver’s slide continues
Jake DeBrusk scored twice in the third period, at 5:30 and 9:34, to drag the Canucks back within one. Liam Ohgren and Linus Karlsson also scored, Elias Pettersson had two assists, and Kevin Lankinen stopped 17 shots. It was not enough.
Vancouver is 1-12-1 in its last 14 games. The lone win came on Oct. 27 in Anaheim, when the Ducks gave up a 5-2 third-period lead and lost 6-5 in overtime. This time they closed it out. The game opened a three-game Canadian trip for Anaheim.
