Deportivo La Coruna vs Osasuna: level on 11 points, ten goals apart on goal difference
Osasuna managed two shots on target at the Sánchez-Pizjuán on Monday and lost 2-0. Isaac Romero scored after 24 minutes, Felix Correia added the second at 82, and Aitor Fernández needed five saves to keep the score down.
That defeat leaves Jagoba Arrasate’s side 12th with 11 points from ten games. Deportivo sit one place above them on the same total, and the two meet at Riazor on Monday 2 November, 20:00 UK time, in the last game of the La Liga weekend.
The points are level, the goal columns aren’t. Deportivo have scored 13 and conceded 13. Osasuna have scored 10 and let in 20, and only Racing Santander, with 26, have conceded more in the division.
Antonio Hidalgo’s side have their own problem, and it sits at the other end of the pitch. They’ve drawn five of their ten league games, and in the five matches between 13 September and 16 October they outshot their opponents 72 to 60 without winning any of them.
These clubs last met in the league in the Segunda División in 2018-19. Deportivo won 2-0 at Riazor in November 2018, and Osasuna took the return 2-1 at home in April 2019.
I’d rather back the side that creates chances than the one that keeps giving them away, and on Monday the side creating them is also the one at home.
Deportivo La Coruna: 24 shots against Betis, one goal, and still no clean sheet
Deportivo lost 1-0 at Atlético Madrid on 24 October, and the performance held up better than the result. Julián Álvarez scored three minutes after half-time from Alejandro Grimaldo’s cross, but before that Jan Oblak had to save from Miguel Loureiro’s header, a long shot from Yeremay Hernández and Lorenzo Amatucci’s follow-up.
Leo Román, signed from Mallorca in July, kept the gap at one at the other end. In stoppage time Kevin Sánchez forced another save from Oblak that would have earned a point at the Metropolitano.
The home games have followed a pattern. Against Betis, Deportivo had 24 shots and scored once. Against Levante on 16 October, Bil Nsongo put them ahead on 63 minutes and Dani Requena equalised at 82. Between mid-September and mid-October they conceded the opening goal in four of five league games.
Bright Ede went off with a hamstring injury against Levante, though Hidalgo said it was less serious than first feared. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, signed from Marseille on 17 July, is still recovering, along with Zakaria Eddahchouri and Marc Casadó, on loan from Barcelona since 1 September.
Deportivo haven’t kept a league clean sheet this season. That’s why I won’t touch a home win to nil, even against an attack this blunt.

Osasuna: 11 goals conceded on trips to Atlético, Betis and Sevilla
Luis Miguel Ramis lost his job after heavy defeats at Atlético Madrid and Real Betis, two away games in which Osasuna conceded nine goals. Arrasate came in and won his first match 2-0 at home to Racing Santander on 18 October, with a 20-9 shot count and a clean sheet.
The trip to Sevilla eight days later went backwards. Osasuna had 55% of the ball and completed 425 passes, more than their hosts, yet Sevilla had seven shots on target to their two.
Ante Budimir carries the attack. He scored three of Osasuna’s five league goals in the five games up to 18 October, and he started at Sevilla alongside Jonathan Dubasin and Rubén García.
Aimar Oroz, Jorge Herrando and Romain Del Castillo were all reported with muscle injuries before the Sevilla game, and none of the three started there. Their fitness for Monday hasn’t been confirmed.
Osasuna have conceded 20 goals in ten league games, two per match. Eleven of those came in the three away games at Atlético, Betis and Sevilla.
Probable lineup Deportivo La Coruna: Leo Román; Altimira, José María Giménez, Miguel Loureiro, Quagliata; Mella, Amatucci, Diego Villares, Mario Soriano; Yeremay Hernández, Bil Nsongo
Probable lineup Osasuna: Aitor Fernández; Rosier, Catena, Boyomo, Bretones; Torró, Moncayola, Moi Gómez; Rubén García, Budimir, Dubasin

Our prediction: Deportivo La Coruna to win
Both teams’ numbers point the same way. Deportivo create more than they score, and Osasuna have let in 11 goals in three away trips while producing two shots on target in the most recent one. A home side that keeps getting shots away against a defence conceding two a game is the side I’d back.
The case against is real. Deportivo have drawn five of ten and haven’t kept a clean sheet, so a 1-1 is a live outcome, and Budimir only needs one chance. Osasuna also won their only game under Arrasate at home, not away.
The home win is priced between 1.66 and 2.20 across the markets we checked. At that range I’ll take Deportivo rather than the draw.

About our free predictions
- What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
- The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses: that rarely ends well.
- A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
- Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
- Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.

Information changes
A prediction is always based on what we know at the time of writing. But between publication and kick-off, a lineup can change, a player picks up an injury, the weather turns, and the analysis can quickly be outdated. We cannot be held responsible for that.
