Trabzonspor vs Hearts: Hearts arrive four days after conceding seven
Celtic 7, Hearts 1. That was Sunday at Celtic Park, and the scoreline was 5-1 at half-time. Tierney scored on seven minutes, Nygren and Osmand both got two, McCart put one into his own net in first-half stoppage time and Durán added the seventh after the break. Laurent Mendy’s goal on 41 minutes was all Hearts had to show for it.
Four days later Wouter Vrancken takes his side to Papara Park, a 41,500-capacity ground, for the second round of the Conference League league phase. Kick-off is 17:45 UK time on Thursday.
Before Sunday, Hearts had lost once in 13 games and were the top scorers in the Scottish Premiership with 19 goals. They’re still third. They have one point from Matchday 1, after Nordsjaelland equalised with a deflected shot on 86 minutes at Tynecastle.
Trabzonspor have won four in a row in all competitions, including a 4-2 win at KuPS in Tampere last Thursday. Thomas Reis’s side play Besiktas at home on Monday night, after this preview was written, before turning their attention to Hearts. They went into that game fifth in the Süper Lig with 13 points from seven matches.
The clubs have never met. Trabzonspor are third in the Conference League table with three points, Hearts 17th with one.
Trabzonspor are around 1.51 to win, the draw 4.63 and Hearts 5.30. The home side opened at 1.44, and I think the drift is generous.
Trabzonspor: four wins in a row, but Onuachu is gone again
Paul Onuachu scored after three minutes in Tampere and came off injured shortly afterwards with a hamstring problem. He’s out, and so are Ruslan Malinovskyi (knee), Okay Yokuşlu (cartilage), Umut Nayir (hip), Batagov and goalkeeper Onuralp Çevikkan.
Franculino Dju has filled the gap. He replaced Onuachu on ten minutes in Finland and scored twice, on 47 and 91 minutes, and he’s expected to lead the line again. Salah scored the other goal at KuPS just before half-time.
André Onana saved a penalty from Parzyszek on 58 minutes in that game, with Trabzonspor 3-1 up. Pennanen had scored for KuPS four minutes earlier, and Engvall added a second in stoppage time.
At home Trabzonspor average 2.0 goals scored and 0.9 conceded, and they’ve won three of their last four at Papara Park. The league results there include a 4-0 against Galatasaray and a 5-0 against Gençlerbirliği.
Melih Kabasakal was suspended for Monday’s game and is listed as a doubt, while Stefan Savić and Mustafa Eskihellaç are uncertain. Fabinho and Ozan Tufan are expected in midfield, with Muçi and Salah either side of Dju.
The run before this winning streak wasn’t clean. Trabzonspor lost 1-0 at Konyaspor on 12 September and were beaten 1-0 at home by Drogheda United in a friendly on 1 October. Since then they’ve won 4-0 against Galatasaray, 3-0 at Samsunspor and 4-2 at KuPS.

Hearts: 17 games in a row with a goal, and 2.2 conceded per away game
Hearts have scored in 17 consecutive matches, and McPake is their top scorer. They put five past St Mirren on 10 October and won 3-0 at Stenhousemuir in the League Cup. Before the trip to Glasgow they had also beaten Dundee 2-1 at Tynecastle.
Away from home, Hearts average 1.4 goals scored and 2.2 conceded, and three-quarters of their away games have gone over 2.5 goals. They’ve lost at Falkirk and drawn at Kilmarnock in the league, before Sunday.
Vrancken’s side are also missing players. Blair Spittal (shin), Tom Renaud (ankle) and Craig Halkett (Achilles) are out, Ageu has a muscle injury expected to keep him out for one or two weeks, and Tomas Magnusson is a doubt.
Borchgrevink missed the Celtic game with an ankle knock. Vrancken said it isn’t too serious and expects him to be available on Thursday, which would give Hearts back a defender who started against Nordsjaelland.
McEntee scored just after the half-hour against Nordsjaelland, and Hearts held that lead until four minutes from time. Their Matchday 1 XI had Borchgrevink, McCart, McEntee and Miller in defence, with McPake, Milne and Mendy also starting. Mendy scored Hearts’ goal at Celtic Park, and Reus, in goal against Nordsjaelland, is expected to start again in Trabzon.
Probable lineup Trabzonspor: Onana; Cabral, Nwaiwu, Özkaçar, Pina; Fabinho, Kabasakal (doubt); Muçi, Ozan Tufan, Salah; Franculino Dju
Probable lineup Hearts: Reus; Milne, McCart, McEntee, Altena; Mendy, Findlay; McPake, Dhanda, Miller; Braga
Free Conference League Prediction: Trabzonspor vs Hearts
Our prediction: Trabzonspor to win (odds 1.51)
Trabzonspor have won four straight and average two goals a game at home. Hearts concede 2.2 per away game and arrive four days after shipping seven at Celtic Park. Trabzonspor have scored in each of their last four games, and they put four past both Galatasaray and KuPS.
Hearts will score sometimes; 17 games in a row says so. That’s why I’m not touching a clean sheet or a big handicap. Onuachu’s absence also takes some power out of the Trabzonspor attack, though Dju scored twice in Tampere after coming on in the tenth minute.
At 1.51 I’m happy with the home win. Trabzonspor play on Monday and Hearts played on Sunday, so neither side is fresh, but Trabzonspor have the home crowd, the deeper squad and an opponent that’s just conceded seven.
in your pocket.

About our free predictions
- What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
- The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses: that rarely ends well.
- A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
- Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
- Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.

Information changes
A prediction is always based on what we know at the time of writing. But between publication and kick-off, a lineup can change, a player picks up an injury, the weather turns, and the analysis can quickly be outdated. We cannot be held responsible for that.
